So was this the fairy feller's master-stroke?

It is such an appropriate car for Freddie even if all the documentaries showed him being whizzed round in black Mercs.
Oh to be a fairy dandy tickling the fancy of my lady friend in the Shadow wink

Anyone who thinks there is no difference between a near 7 litre engine making 200hp and a 2 litre amking 200hp has never driven them. People fixate on capacity when the only thingh that actually matters is efficiency.

A modern Yank V8 will return up to 30mpg.
Sadly, the test I read of the Shadow when I quite fancied one showed an average of 10mpg and that put me right off.

Mine averages 13mpg (or did when I bothered to measure it) and I once got 18mpg on a run to Bath (from near the west of London) with the aircon on. I can't be bothered anymore as I just drive it and enjoy it and given it's not my everyday car, I don't really care what the consumption is. That's not being silly, it's because sometimes, like when the weather is awful and I don't want to get it wet because of the hassle of making it look clean again (it's dark blue), I don't drive it for 4 weeks and other times, I drive it every weekend. Mileage is therefore limited, so the price differential between running a 13 mpg shadow and my Jag 3 litre X-type (22 mpg) is irrelevant.
You will get hooked though, as I can testify to, as I bought a Bentley S3 the year after!!
You could get hit by a bus tomorrow, so have a good-time today!

I don't think I would pay any extra for a car just because its had a celebrity owner. Especially since the whole Jimmy Saville thing and that range rover that someone is now stuck with.
jimmy savile's range rover?
It was a "Carawagon", a camper conversion, if someone did use it to sleep in would be hillarious to tap on the window and appear in full Savile regalia.

Think the Freddie Mercury connection is worth something but not enough for it to be worth significantly more than any other half decent Shadow, if it was like John Lennons Roller, i.e. very specific to him then I could see why it would be expensive but as it is it is just a shadow with a famous ex owner.

oh dear
It does worry me that anyone would abuse the current owner of a car because of a previous ones crimes, that is plain weird, as far as I am aware, no car has even been charged with grooming young girls. I would want rid of it based on that as well, I am sure someone would vandalise it if left and perhaps think nothing of giving you a pasting, these must be the same people that think characters in soaps are real or summon up a mob to batter a "Paediatrician". Retards, murderers, scumbags, rapists etc do like to batter Paedos, gives them someone to look down on.

but... it isn't just about the owner. It is virtually certain that there was some illegal activities taking place in the back of the Range Rover! Anyway O/T all this Savile talk (and I brought it up!), Freddie Mercury never partook in that stuff!

Loving the Bentley. £7k for a turbo-charged bungalow has to be worth a punt.
Unfortunately the wife said she'd divorce me if I came home in something so hideously ostentatious and as I'm quite fond of the old girl.....
My Mrs just said 'I like that!' When I showed her it! Good Girl!!!! smile

I think now, rather than driving a car and seeing if we enjoy it for what it is, we fixate on numbers and assume more is always better, its like choosing a partner soleley on Bra size.
You say that as if it's a bad thing tongue out
