It looks like they outsourced the work to Audi; chuck lights at the front and add some nasty wheels.

Poor show by Honda frown

I had a long drive in the standard CR-Z, and came away disappointed. The idea was a really good one IMHO. An electric motor can provide masses of low-end torque and give near-instant throttle response. Putting that into a distinctive-looking, lightweight sports runabout, with a manual gearbox, should have been a recipe for success. With the added attraction of low tax/insurance, Honda legendary reliability and low fuel consumption. But I found that there just wasn't enough grunt to make it fun. It was lukewarm rather than hot. I just couldn't see the point of owning it.

It could have been the next MX5 IMHO. But it needed Civic Type-R levels of performance. Even a normal Civic outruns it, in both acceleration and top speed.

Here's hoping that they get their mojo back.

Erm why does that matter?

Mugen looks daft and it's got 156bhp. Wow lol.

Amen.

Do like the S2000 treatment though. Looks a lot cleaner than the original. Each to his own. Banzai CRZ ? No thank you

Is it me is is Honda now one of the most boring car manufacturers there is? Even Kia and Hyudai make more interesting looking cars!

The S2000 is awful especially from the front. Worst front bumper I've seen for it.

Fixing a strip of Xmas tinsel on the 2000's nose does not improve on the handsome original.

Still, even this one is more desirable than the lumpen CR-Z that's taken up residence in my street.

I bet rear-view vision's better on the 2000, too!

That’s good for 156hp and 136lb ft in total, a useful upgrade over the standard 124hp and 128lb ft
I think those Mugen figures are for the petrol engine's power alone. The combined engine + electric motor power and torque outputs would be significantly more than that.

Also, Honda have recently revised the standard CR-Z - it now has a combined output of 137hp and 140lb ft.
