Well Hugh
This may be a warning to you all don’t have the car you drive at the time as your user name!!!
As for 120d it fell to bits and again there some fast oil burners out, there are also cars that some over a certain height can’t fit in and use as there daily drives. Driving a go kart to work a back which consists of a 4 mile drive that on a good day can take 40 minutes, I know what I prefer !!
My god, you're an angry man.....
Go for a wk or something.....
Also, I'm 6ft6 and fit in one of these just fine.
Now calm the fk down.

Then how can you expect any manufacturer of a sports car to accommodate you?
And why are you so angry?

So 215bhp then.
More like 185 if the dyno reports on standard cars are to be believed.

Scott Mansell drifting a GT86 at Abu Dhabi. It's not that they can't drift, it's that the people trying to drift them are not talented enough to drift them. Entry to apex kerb to exit kerb on pretty much every corner.

After much time to reflect on the years threads about the 86, i have come to the conclusion: Toyota have done the most incredible marketing job ever. Drifting has been around for years, particularly Japan, but in the UK mainly with "yoofs" in their modified cars who were often frowned upon and classed as boy racers!

Toyota release a new car with skinny tyres and low hp, tell you its what you want and you need drifting in your life and everyones all over it like a tramp on chips!

Like lambs to the slaughter smile

Looking forward to the drift scene going viral and its popularity growing this year with all the new aficionados and there gt86's rolleyes

Only it's not about drifting. It's about control. Complete control no matter which way the car is facing. All at speeds that aren't ridiculous.

Did you not see the TV commercial? It's the....Real Deal.

No, its called drifting, not, car controlling. The adverts and general marketing are constantly making reference to drifting, even Keiichi Tsuchiya used for this promo is known as the DRIFT king, not CAR CONTROL king!

Erm....are you saying you can be a drifter or drift/slide a car with confidence without having car control?

You're confused. You can't be a 'Drift King' without knowing how to control a car. The whole drifting/drift/drifter moniker is a distraction. It's about car control, plain and simple. And this car is one of a few that allow the driver to learn more about controlling a car.

I think you've fallen for the whole drifting hype surrounding the car. It's merely a car that's very well balanced and that's why many in the drifting scene are excited about it.

Anyway, I'm still holding out for the M235i.

Lotus Elise - lightweight car with 130bhp that costs over £30k. Seen as one of the greatest drivers cars ever made.

GT86 - lightweight rear wheel deive coupe with 200bhp and more usable as an all round car. £25k. Seen as something that's overpriced not quick enough and boring.

Somewhere along the way even the vast majority of petrolhead a have fallen for the manufacturers power beats all thinking over the last few years. Sad sad times. You'll all be wanting rid of V8's next because they don't do 50mpg.

I've seen a couple over the past few days after seeing one in all the time it's been out.

They look magnificent. Perfectly proportioned and good styling.

I only wish they were cheaper, you just know they'd be everywhere at £20k

Fantastic racing and a great video to watch.

The only thing that would have made those Mini's better is another 250bhp and some 4wd gubbins and some downforce and some bigger wheels and some better interior trim and some .........

I think it's probably the fact that we've all been spoilt before.
The S2000 weighed the same was 240bhp and had a 50:50 weight distribution. The MX5 has been pumping out the same performance and driving pleasure as this since the arc was built and the only difference this has is that it has the 2 useless seats in the back.
I personally don't think it's a bad car, but I totally get why it's a marmite car and am in the opinion that it's not quite what it should be.
