Agree. Then again, why take the risk with something that might flop, when all you need to do is make a clone of half a dozen good selling cars?
Exactly, playing it safe as most manufacturers do (perhaps with a few exceptions).

Why?
Are you unable to see the images? Visually it is terrible, both outside and inside. I agree that a car of that size should have presence, but making it bulge in places it shouldn't bulge isn't really the way.

I like it. The outgoing model did indeed look a bit puffy and marshmallow from some (well, all angles) but I hear that the customer service from Infiniti is particularly impressive.

They've not made a splash as a brand though, have they? My local dealership's forecourt is full of used Mercedes, BMWs and Audis rather than Infinitis, which doesn't really send out the right signals.

bet Vettle wouldn't go near it if he wasn't forced to by team sponsors! I'm certainly not.

Hybrid petrol? Great idea. Oh wait, they cost more money to buy and maintain and get worse MPG than a modern diesel with Stop/start and all the tricks.

You'd have to be mental.

The Koreans are doing a much better job of it now though. Look at the Kia Optima for example. Compared to this it's a mighty fine looking car.

I'd be interested to know how Vettel signed off the chassis. I'm actually guessing he probably drove it once or twice and said 'yeah it's not bad' :P

So what you really mean is that you don't like the design, and because you don't like the design it means anyone that does is 'bonkers'?

I can understand that you don't like it if it isn't to your tastes, then that's fine. But people stating a car is awful because it's bland/generic/boring etc, and then going and eulogising a BMW, Merc or Audi despite these being exactly the same level of boringness is one of the things I really don't get about Pistonheads...

I think they signed the chassis off once he was able to do 300 yards without vomiting at the thought of having to have his name attached to it.... drivingvomit

Not to turn this into yet another diesel v. petrol thread but...

Yeah, but at least a hybrid isn't a diesel. :-)

Diesel cars cost just as much money to maintain unless you do stratospheric mileage, get far worse MPG than stated, and stop/start is just a gimmick in the real world...
Oh, and ever had to get a particulate filter replaced in a diesel?

Having done the diesel thing on the back of false claims of cost/mileage I'd happily never have one again and would be willing to try a hybrid as an alternative. At least in this case it's being used in the right way - to enhance performance smile

Is it really necessary each time someone posts something to state that it is their own personal opinion? Isn't that pretty obvious?

I'd imagine the lack of splash as a brand would be the rather large tax charges, and the perception of poor fuel economy... Jag had the same problem until they put a small capacity 4cyl diesel into the range...

Customer service is awesome, and having come from decidedly shoddy VW service, it's been a revelation so far!

I like the optima - shame they only offer it with a gutless 1.7 Diesel engine - A decent 2.5 petrol would make it into a great car - I'm guessing the market isn't there for that though...

Actually the Kia I really like is the unfortunately names "Koup". Shame it's not available here in the UK though... frown

I like it! I test drove an infinity convertible a few weeks ago - really nice cars.

They are different - and in a world of BMW and Audi I think that's a good thing.

Downside is depreciation, but at 1 year old they make a lot sense. Lot of kit for the money.

Dealership was great too - they seem to be like a family and were very keen to be very helpful. I can imagine that customer service with this brand will be exemplary.

smile
