RE: Corvette Stingray convertible leaked?

the 'comedy' in exhausts is that a corsa doesn't need multiple big exhausts - the 'vette does.
All you american car hating nay sayers on here need to own or drive a 'vette before spouting opinions.
I was guilty a few years back of laughing my tits off at my mate who had just ordered a yellow c6 Z06, one drive and a couple of years of saving up later and I have one now. Better than anything Ive ever ever driven. Im sure a C7 will be on the cards at some point..

I very much doubt it. Two exits would probably be just as good if not better for gas flow. Those things are 90% aesthetic. vdubbin said:
C6 ZO6 used the cab chassis as the base, since it was stiffer without a suffering a huge wieght penalty. I think we can assume the same applies here.
Why do you think that? Not true at all. C6 Z06 used completely different frame, in Aluminium, not steel. It was later used for ZR1 too. It was much lighter and stronger. Roof frame was magnesium instead of being a targa. New C7 uses a completely new aluminium frame for the base model. It's lighter than the old one as it is now multi-thickness; being made from five different sub-frames instead of one, allowing it to deform more easily front and rear where less rigidity is needed, but be thicker in the core tub.Krikkit said:

Strange how Pinin/Ferrari has gone the ugly Pokemon face / lumpy proportions route, while the lowly old Corvette has leaped past it in the looks department with the C7.
Just look at the ugly Ferrari's out there! The F12 is awkward and lumpen with clumsy lines, the FF is an abomination, and the California is a lard butt poseur machine. The only good looking car they have is the Italia! Some people should be losing their jobs, but unfortunately these things seem to be hits in China and the Middle East and other centres of bad taste.
Congratulations to the Corvette designers.

It looks exactly like you'd expect it to look based on the hard top.
To my inexpert eye the exhausts now look odd as on the C6 they followed the rear light design, 4 oval lights/4 oval(ish) exhausts.
On the C7 the lights are all rectangular and the exhausts not, maybe if they put rectangular ones there it might flow better as a design.
Be interesting to see the Z06 version, the C6 one I had was a great car.

Looks great with the hood down, but what are they like to drive? Noticeably softer and blobbier than the hardtop?
Don't see why. It's basically a GRP body over a separate chassis with a stout backbone. Much like TVRs, but more panels and pressings as opposed to plain tube. Even on the coupe the body/roof doesn't do much for rigidity. I've put a fair few miles on C6 Coupes and a Convertible and the soft-top was rock solid even on real bad roads. Astonishingly good cars. If they did them in right hand drive the humble Masser would be on autotrader and I've have one like a shot.5 USA said:
Strange isn't it that Brits are so willing to be rude about Corvette, the world's most successful V8 sportscar, yet there's no sign they are forming an orderly queue outside their local Lotus dealership.
Come to think of it, maybe they just don't like sportscars.
Well said , put money on corvette will be around for a long time, can,t say same about lotus(even though great cars).Come to think of it, maybe they just don't like sportscars.
PH never ceases to amaze.
"The exhausts are horrible" "Don't like the back end" " Disgusting interior" etc ad nauseam
YOU don't have to buy one, as if you would even be in the market for one anyway.
Go back to your pc and box of tissues looking at stuff you like.
I really like this, and I don't normally like drop tops......
