RE: Spotted: Renaultsport Clio V6 255
Discussion
Whats stopping people getting the handling and performance of the Phase 1 to Phase two standard for a couple of grand? Thinking it must be cams, remap, suspension and alignment?????
Was only looking at Phase 1's last week and thinking it would be some fun depreciation free motoring for a year. Wouldnt fancy it much in the snow at the moment though, dont think it would have got me home today LOL

Ah yes the BMW 130i M Sport, remarkable how it shares the same philosophy as the Clio V6, such a bespoke piece of creativity and engineering....
I never said it did/does, my point was simply that we should cherish all the big engined small cars as we'll not likely see them again in the future. Anyway O/T, as you were.TX.

now i know where there is a acid yellow one of 7 in the country in that colour with under 9k on the clock! i wonder what that is worth.
Is it in Halifax?Anyway, Acid and under 9k with its belts changed (one came up recently without this being done) and fsh I'd say £19k-£21k if still in mint condition I would have thought, maybe even more...

Nice to see this article! Cheers Pistonheads.
I think an exotic rare midship for 17k is good value and still considerably cheaper than what they fetch on the continent. These are only ever going to go up in value as more get exported and written off as time passes.
These cars are not only alot of fun, but an appreciating asset with almost nothing else like it available at the price range.
The original phase ones are now getting extremley rare and prove excellent value for money, offering the same package at a cheaper price. You can currently pick up a near concourse example for around 9-10k, but i expect this will rise in the near future.
Just for the record, whilst the phase 2 255 version has around 25bhp more, it also weighs more. Having spent time in both cars and driven on many owners meets i assue you both cars in a drag prove to be an equal match for each other at any speed should that be your thing.
The car boasts a fantastic owners club: v6clio.net which has a great support network of members and club meets making ownership extra special.

182bhp/ton (MK2) plays 175. 0-60 times close to identical but MK2 will always be quicker round a circuit - primarily due to inspiring more driver confidence and noticeably more mechanical grip - and will definitely be quicker a to b in the wet. Does any of that matter though? Awesome little cars.RX7 said:
Can any enthusiasts elaborate as to what was changed to improve the handling.
Mine has KW V3 coilovers, and though they were fitted when I bought it, other owners say they make an improvement. I certainly haven't had any issues in the damp or wet with the only moment was hitting some wet mud on a right hander that I didn't seeroystinho said:

Thanks but i meant from mk1 to mk2.You may think it would be easy to update the phase 1 to handle like a phase 2. (Would never want to personally)
However I believe the changes are reasonably extensive, starting with the fact that the revised car was built in the Dieppe factory by Renault where as the phase 1 was built by TWR in Austria.
Changes for the phase 2 included a new rear subframe and extended wheelbase, suspension components/ setup (I think) and 18" wheels rather than the 17's that went before.
I also believe the phase 2 has slightly more steering lock.
Probably lots of other changes but that gets the ball rolling.

Incorrect. There is nothing between the ph1 and 2 other than a more managable chassis. I've been to a few track days in europe with mine and others, 2 of them seeing over 30 v6's on track.
You won't see much between the two. Its more about how big you balls are in either.
As an owner, I can honestly say its the best car I have ever owned. I actually yawn at the thought of owning a boxter or the like. Not that there is anything wrong with them I'll add!
As for the prices of them, 15k is cheap compared to mainland europe! I had 1st refusal on the ultra sppecial Tom00001 car (it wasn't the 1st car off the production line, instead a one off special made for Tom Walkingshaw himself). I was offered it for a small £9k. Unfortunatlyi couldn't shift mine intime to have it. I heard that just after I missed out on it, it changed hands 5 times in as many days and went for over £50k on its last sale. I will forever kick myself!
Anyways, epic cars, epic characters and probably the last of a breed of mans man cars.

Delighted to see the values on the up! I've been pushing this motion extremely hard for the past couple of years! Much like the TVR Saragis prices.
I'm a big fan of the V6 having owned #46 since May 07. I've done over 25k miles, multiple track days and European jaunts! She's with me for life!
The number of people taking pictures of it in the car park at the north loop was amazing to see, it truly is a special wee car!

I do like them when I see one, but something in the interior is not right?
don't know what any more, never driven in one but had a sit in the mk2 and the seats were way to high? and some other things (I forgot) had to be changed when or if I ever buy one.
make it sportier in the interior and give the engine some extra boost for a start.
this one has a bit to much picture + but looks nice
this is a bit better I think
but those older 5 are impressive as well, love those.

I used to have one of these and know the market quite well. This is over priced and they are taking a punt as there's not many for sale at the moment....if someone is desperate for one he might get the money, but when the summer comes along cars like this will be on for closer to £14k.
Anyway, Acid and under 9k with its belts changed (one came up recently without this being done) and fsh I'd say £19k-£21k if still in mint condition I would have thought, maybe even more...nope norfolk/suffolk, it is mint all it does is sit in the garage with a cover on it.
The Acid in Halifax is owned by a guy who also owns a low mileage ReanultSport Spider, an Aventine, an old style R26 Megane, a new style Megane Trophy and I think an R27 Clio. Nice collection.
