The Acid in Halifax is owned by a guy who also owns a low mileage ReanultSport Spider, an Aventine, an old style R26 Megane, a new style Megane Trophy and I think an R27 Clio. Nice collection.
Yeah I know Rick, he's just sorted my clutch out, top guy.

EDIT - in fact I think it's the one at the top of the page but he's put it back to original now

I have fond memories of the Clio V6.

The garage I still work for sold the Mk1 V6 that Evo ran to them and bought it back when they had finished with it, I subsequently sold it on with a stonking exhaust that Evo had made for it, it sounded epic however after 20 minutes it was just too much.

When the Mk2 came out we had a showroom one in Illiad blue, we had a very large showroom and I remember one quiet Saturday evening we would see how fast we could get up to from one side of the showroom to the handover bay, it opened up straight to the car park, we spent an hour cleaning the tyre marks off if the tiles.

His Spider is amazing, only 700 miles on it. Very jealous of his collection

Above the age of 25, you'd look silly driving one of these.
This as I'm 40! The strange hand gestures from chavs and the shocking interior made me shift mine after a year or so. Oh and main dealers are useless. It did sound nice though.

Swapped it for a mint 996 and no regrets.

Fantastic cars - i loved every moment of owning my one - Phase 2 #175 - ME04TOY smile

During the time i owned it i fitted a K-Tec stainless rear silencer with 3” tailpipes, PiperX induction kit and had an RS Tuning ECU re-map.

Yes i know it has smoked lexus style rear lights but it was 2006 and they looked much better than the silver chrome ones the previous owner had fitted during his ownership frown

It's one of the only cars i would own another one of in the future if i had the chance smile

Excuse for a pic or two hehe

And, what i believe, is one of the best views of this car cool

I do like them when I see one, but something in the interior is not right?
don't know what any more, never driven in one but had a sit in the mk2 and the seats were way to high? and some other things (I forgot) had to be changed when or if I ever buy one.

make it sportier in the interior and give the engine some extra boost for a start.

this one has a bit to much picture + but looks nice

This one belongs to the guy I know!

Er, actually I bought (new), owned and ran the Mk1 that appeared in Evo's longtermers. After a long sarga of a corroding original exhaust I had Quicksilver (I think) make up an exhaust. It was horrendous with an ear bleeding mid range boom and I never ran it on the car. When Renault brought out the MK2 they hid the exhaust behind those plastic grills, rather than produce a better quality exhaust. I think they got fed up with my complaining about the cheapo item fitted to the MK1 in those longtermer articles!

Maybe what I was told then was wrong, I was fairly new at the time, I'm pretty sure the guy that bought the car in question had an MR2, can't remember if he traded it or not though.

Which dealer did you buy it from and what did you do with the car when you had finished with it?

Sold my Boxster S for one of these as it happens. No regrets.

Not as dynamic as the Porsche but about 10 times more characterful.

Depreciation will be non-existent unlike the pork which lost 30% of it's value in 18 months.
Funnily enough Autocar did a comparison between the two when the first V6 came out. Looks a little odd pairing at first, but did put in perspective how much the Clio was new.

There's a (slightly dodgy looking) guy turns up to visit my (slightly dodgy) neighbour from time to time in a blue 255. I can tell he's here from the faint bassy rumble that I can detect from inside my house with the windows closed.

Am I right in believing they have a massive turning circle?

I may be a little biased, but for similar money to buy and a similar design concept (mid mounted V8, manual, RWD, 2 seats), minimal depreciation although higher running costs compensated by higher performance (and supercar looks) I think the Esprit V8 makes a good case for itself against these?

I agree with you to a point (as an owner of an Esprit and an Alpine A610) but the Clio is a unique little car and the world is a better place for it being conceived. I would love a V6 Clio just because it is so different. All these cars are individual choices but having spent some time in the Clio, I can see why people do own them and love them.

Interesting topic.

My current car is a Clio RS, recently bought, and my choice was between that, an STI and a V6. Have I made the right decision? Time will tell...I love my RS and it's the third model I've owned but I do have a slight niggle in the back of my mind telling me that I should have gone for the V6. Sadly a divorce and the need to start over with a new house means I need hassle free motoring with a warrantee or I would have bought one.

I think over time this will be an itch that I will need to scratch.
