For Land/Range Rovers then the Lichfield spec is usually referring to the one named after Lord Lichfield. It generally means theres a 5.0 litre TVR engine from a Griff 500 in there, or sometimes something more "conservative" from a 350.

If I were to have a blast around an empty car park, say , at a mall, could I get into trouble?
Just do it, nobody is going to give a st. Would you if you saw someone doing it? I even drive on fields in the local park.

Darius that's in the Yorkshire Dales national park right? I wonder if South Downs national park would be equally as fun.

Yes its Yorkshire dales national park. It was a lot of fun, got stuck at one point

Got through 1h later and after that I just drove faster and there was no more problems

I love the fact you just used a normal Astra! Makes all the 4x4s look like overkill.

There was two of us, a lot of pushing about getting snow from under the car and using two stones of a wall, front was hanging in the air more or less. But thats what we were looking for, a place where we would strugle to get through.
I have to say the winter tyres were amazing!

Sounds like an arctic team adventure lol. It's good when there's someone to help in case you need to be sat in the car and someone else to push. Might do this with a mate in South Downs national park. Can't think where else near Reading I might be able to find such an ungritted paradise.

have you tried the Continental Wintercontacts by comparison? I have been impressed by them but am not sure I would have taken that on! Am still learning what they can do though

2WD with proper winter tyres are very accomplished, but no match for a 4WD on winter tyres. The extra 2 driven wheels and increased ground clearance that a 4X4 will provide make them the weapon of choice.

Tyres make a huge difference though meaning that a 2WD on winters can match a 4WD on summer rubber.

Stunning backdrop for winter driving.

No, I havent, and I dont think I will as I love these so much! They are very good in wet, and as we know, we spent most of time in winter driving in wet, and very little in snow.
