Not allways, in last couple of days Ive seen rs4 turning around in midle of a hill, where I had to stop in midle of that hill to let him turn around, and then I took of with no problems, plus we have the stopping issue, My stopping distance will be a lot shorter then a 4WD cars with summer tyres. So even if I had a 4WD car, I would still buy winter tyres.Tyres make a huge difference though meaning that a 2WD on winters can match a 4WD on summer rubber.

RS4 would have been running very wide ultra low profile sports tyres making it a 414bhp sledge, so not really a good representation of 4WD and "summer tyres".Put narrower section winters on it and it would be very capable.

Its about 20 miles away from where I live, and once you get there, there isnt any mobile phone signal so perfect place to get stuck 
And thanks for a link Jon, Ive drove past a few 4WD cars like that and I know that 2WD with winters on is better

4WD with winters is better. Trust me. Driving past a 4wd car, or SUV means nothing. With 4wd you can engine brake with all 4 wheels on downhill stretches, and you have 4 tyres working for you going forward rather than 2. So, 4wd with winters beats 2wd with winters. And without winters its worserest.Hacked off with the snow now, it's too deep for my Elise. Lost the front number plate earlier, tore a hole in the diffuser on a chuck of ice in the road and keep catching the front clam on things hidden in the snow.
Could do with a higher ride height. Perhaps I need some comedy 18-inch wheels to raise it off the ground a bit!

They are designed for 7 degree C and below, snow, ice or dry roads, but I have run them later than that, and they were fine, 'to a degree'. They do feel 'squishier' then summer tyres in the dry, but they never exploded, or did anything strange.TheHeretic said:
