Yep, I bought it. So far it's lush. LPG works well, just gotta play with the range now to know when it's empty!!

In terms of tank size, it's a spare wheel tank, I needed it in the wheel well for various undefined reasons!!
Welcome to the world of cheaper motoring! We did a shop in Waitrose today and got a voucher for 5p off a litre at Shell which timed nicely as the next job was to fill up with LPG, so a tanks worth of gas at 71p per litre was most pleasing.

I spent a couple of hours yesterday refitting the Flashlube Electronic Kit to mine which Flashlube sent me a brand new kit under warranty free due to the bottle on mine falling apart somewhat, took the opportunity of replacing the ECU bit as well as the kit they sent me had an updated one in it.

Nice one, glad you're happy with it.

Yeah tank size..... I got that one wrong..... Asked the installer to put the biggest spare wheel tank in that they could without raising the boot floor. They did exactly what I wanted. I had about a 220 mile range and I was doing nearly 500 a week. Oops.

I've contemplated having another tank boot in the boot as there is plenty of space in the VXR8 and I only get a 220 mile range from its current 65 litre doughnut tank. I get 3 days commuting from that, but then I think I actually pass 3 LPG stations on the way to and from work so is it worth the extra layout.

Glad you got sorted with the car and hope it all works out running on lpg.

Next up, take a look at www.filllpg.co.uk and see what stations are around your way or on the routes you go to see where is best for a fillup. Also available as an Android App. The database is added to by the members and prices updated by members.

I thought about that too, a second tank is apparently pretty easy to plumb in, but they're *heavy* even when they're not full of gas and that's what eventually put me off. In retrospect I should have gone for the biggest tank I could get in the spare wheel well - apparently you can just about get a 90L job in there - and just lifted the boot floor, but that's what hindsight does for ya wink

I've been looking at buying an lpg converted grand Cherokee jeep lately.
'Prins' are widely regarded as the best system you can buy.

Only advice I was given was make sure it's been serviced regularly and recently, make sure it switches over ok, ensuring the car runs ok on it.

Failing taking someone with you who really knows what they're looking at, I can't offer anymore advice.

I was told a service on most lpg systems is about £90. Maybe you should budget for that in the negotiations on price.

Have you thought about calling Prins themselves and asking them for advice?
Particularly on the Jeep watch out for valve seat recession. I've got a 4.7 with LPG which has a loss of power due to this.

It was fitted with a Prins kit ten years ago, so a very old system that runs all the time on LPG, most modern systems start on petrol then switch, which minimises the risk. Also systems like 'valve care' can be added which are supposed to help but there is some scepticism about it's effectiveness.

The pdf on this page lists all the models that are vulnerable to valve seat recession:
http://www.prinsautogasuk.co.uk/prinsvsi/valvecare...

But, don't let this put you off a Jeep! They are great cars and an absolute bargain compared to Land Rovers or Range Rovers. If it's been converted recently then you should be fine.
