Hi all, looking for some advice on the current shape C70.

I've noticed there's a fair few low mileage (20k-30k) 5-6 yr old, well appointed C70s in SE Lux spec around for around the £10k mark, seems like an awful lot of luxury interior with a 5 cylinder thrum for not a lot assuming these cars like the similar engined S60/V70 seem to be able to last forever - why so unloved?

I've been driving E Classes for years so appreciate wafting in comfort without the need for pinpoint handling, these seem like they could fit the bill with the added option of a coupe that's also a convertible, decent boot with the top up and space for 4 inside.

Are they unreliable in terms of the roof mechanism? From other threads I gather both D5 and T5 are reliable and can handle big mileages? Are geartronics to be avoided or from this era are they now deemed pretty robust?

All thoughts and comments welcome thumbup

hmm....I know the C70 isn't popular but I'd imagine the engines and gearboxes are the same as the rest of the Volvo range, any thoughts chaps, anyone had one as a courtesy car even?!

There are a few first generation C70 owners on here including me but I've not seen any '06 on cars. Mine is a manual T5 for what it's worth.

I like the look of these too, and I only have two real concerns - I'm pretty confident that Volvo mechanicals and interiors can last, but maybe someone who knows can tell us what to watch for.
Does the body flex a lot?
Does the roof leak?

I run a C70 SE Lux T5 Geartronic with all the toys as a weekend car. Totally different to a lot of the other cars that I drive but a killer sound system and quality interior that puts a few others that I can mention to shame. Performance feels stodgy but isn't, faster than one thinks in fact.

I'd only intended to run it for a year and although the mileage is still around the 20k mark it makes a very credible Grand Tourer that comfortably seats four and has a classless appeal.

And Pininfarina designed it!
