Funnily enough I had a look at the OP car on PH classifieds just last night...
Always liked Venturis (and Alpine A310/GTA/A610).
The 400GT is a complete and utter meat-eater of a car. More gratuitous porn:
Gorgeous. I don't know if it is still the case, but there is an ex Le Mans one competing in Britcar or GT Cup. Was a pleasure to see it.Always liked Venturis (and Alpine A310/GTA/A610).

The 400GT looks like the evil brother of an F40, probably a bargain in comparison too!

Hows the build quality of venturis?
Are we talking 80s Alfas or actually somewhat decent?
Quality is always a rather subjective concept I think. cars need maintenance. Mine was awesome apart from two things - the clutch and gear change cables really should have been a service item. Speedy cables made me some replacements but they needed constant fettling. The other more disturbing problem was an intermittent cutting out at 3000 rpm. This really was intermittent and neither Nick Mee nor Oselli could ever trace this. It was finally diagnosed by a friend of mine who lectures at Swansea university on thermal dynamics amongst his many other talents. He reckoned it was the alarm/immobiliser so he stripped it out for me - a huge time investment. The factory had a specialist alarm fitter from Paris I think and we were in awe of his ingenuity. My friend said "if I was installing an immobiliser that's probably what I would have done". It was like brain surgery. The reason for this alarm system - UK insurers' insistence apparently. Are we talking 80s Alfas or actually somewhat decent?
I can't emphasise enough how good this car was to drive. My brother in law followed me once and wondered why I never use the brakes. He thought the lights were dodgy - truth is it handle so well you didn't need them much and they were a weird Citroen type where the intensity changed the harder you braked.
Overall a really great car and a delight to look at.
I think for the time, they were a pretty decent alternative to what was about. I think if they'd priced it better, it would have tempted a few more buyers. I know from conversations with Nick, the factory were being typical French b*stards and didn't really get behind it, then wondered why they never sold any? Always nice to see one pop up in the classifieds though, definitely an enthusiasts choice.
Incidentally, I contacted the factory a few years back to enquire about the Atlantique, and they told me quite specifically, and i quote;
Venturi Automobiles;
To answer your question, there will be at some point a "sister" of the Atlantique but we cannot communicate about it at the moment.

From that angle the 400 does look like a bit of a sticky back plastic F40, though.
That said, I would be prepared to forget that sentiment with good grace if they were giving them out for free...
A bit less cohesive than the F40? A tad more 'bolt on'? If so I agree, but both cars still make me dribble!That said, I would be prepared to forget that sentiment with good grace if they were giving them out for free...
