I like it, over sized mouth aside.

I would however buy two Mk1 Focus RS' for the same money.

.....and it'll be reliable...
Apologies for banging on about this, but I intend to post my Ford experiences at every opportunity until I get bored reading my own posts.

Short version: bought brand new Focus ST in Sept. 2012, broke down exactly 1 month later & had to recovered back to supplying dealer. Was then (unknown to me at the time) mis-diagnosed and continued to have running issues for the next month (which I was told lies about by the supplying dealer - "it's supposed to do that" before breaking down again in late November & recovery back to supplying dealer. Ended up being a wire in the engine bay that the insulation had rubbed through in less than 2.4K miles, contacting with the gearbox casing.

Now stuck with a car I have zero confidence in (can't afford to get rid) and totally spoiled what should have been a pleasant experience of buying & owning a brand-new vehicle.

So - Ford & reliable are not two words I ever expect to see used together, in my experience.

Long version: go into my profile and look at threads I have started on here in the last 3 months. If posting my experience makes any potential Focus ST buyers think twice then I would be mildly happy.

Plenty of happy ST owners, there's always a few lemons made by other companies. Better than Corsa VXRs melting pistons.

Thanks for the comments Zwolf. I like the zetec S spec, the previous 1.6 model looked great, and although not 'quick' the 1.6 was a pretty sweet engine. I don't mind if the 1.0 125ps is characterful (when revved makes a nice noise) but I wouldn't be keen on vibrations etc from the 3 cyl thrum. Does the 125ps pull and rev well through the range in the focus? Should be good in the lighter fiesta!

Pulls and revs cleanly and keenly enough. The thrum is audible, but not felt.

Not sure if you actually read my post. Or the link.

But if you had you'd realise everything you said was ridiculous.
I answered this one and someone quoted Evo paid 15 k for the old st using your inflation calculator it brings it in line with the current price of the mark 7 st.

but 15 k was a full spec one

on the road price for one was £13,500 with no extras. making it over your calculators inflation rates. source for price Evo. as I said 2006 I was quote £13k for one.

it's Is over a grand and a half dearer than it should be using your calculator.

Looks awesome.

Affordable performance, good looks, decent price...

Would be a proper little weapon with a Remap/Mountune...

And Fords are always a great drive!

What a silly comparison, no ration or logic whatsoever

when I was 19 and on the ford forecourt I see a fiesta st or a focus st170 (only fast focus at that time in same price bracket)

I picked the fiesta. if it was now and I seen a brand new fiesta for 17 k or a st1 or 2 for half the money i know what I'd pick.

That's fair enough but it's the new vs used comparison which is unfair

your right.

I should have explained it better, my pc is broke and im on my I phone and it's bloody murder to type smile

It be interesting to see how many new hot hatches are sold these days if they are in decline or not. seems like they price them far too high for the youth who would buy them.

He did say it was what a 19 year old was thinking...... You are therefore agreeing beer

I only look at car prices through a P11D coloured lens, but I do remember a program saying that GBP dropping .35EUR in value put the car prices up - as someone has suggested. £2k on a fiesta was the example they used (might have been Last Of The Summer Wine, or Top Gear, I forget which, they're so similar) I also remember it being at the same time the scrappage scheme was on thus fully negating any benefit that may have been garnered by Joe Public. Or their Grandparents.

I like the Fester, especially the three door. It looks all grown up now, like a small car trying to look like a bigger one. As for the five door, sided on for me it looks a bit
Bumper, Wheel,Door,Door,Wheel,Bumper. Like there's no "proper" Bodywork

Just to let all know this car has 180bhp all the time but will give 200bhp for 23 sec with 100% pedal given. It's a form of transient over boost. Ford UK can not publish this higher value but it's ok in europe to tell the customer it's full power. it's been going on fore along time now and you might notice it when driving your car fast that sometimes it feels sluggish, it's just the cal de rating back to standard max bhp.
So really for a 1.6ltr engine 200bhp is very good! plus giving all the Co2 and mpg we all want.

How is it switched off. Not as in a rev limiter but after you've used your 23 seconds, what resets so you can use again? timer? engine temp? saying "please can I have my power back in to the voice command unit?
I am actually curious despite being flippant.

The pricing is crazy, Kia are trying to rob people of £6,000 for the Picanto. Don't people realise you could buy a 20 year old BMW M3 with 200,000 miles on the clock for less than that.

I can remember when I worked in Sales at Ford and the first Fiesta ST came out @ £13595 which looking back was quite cheap again compared to its competitors granted not the most power but still very popular

I forgot, everyone on ph has more money than a horse can st.

clearly its wrong to merely suggest 17k for another Luke warm fiesta is a bit pricey.

for example 19 year old.
17 k for fiesta over 3 years call it 18 k with interest.

500 per month payments before insurance or road tax.
