Yet, the steel framed GEN V Viper weighs about the same as the aluminium framed 458 Italia and Corvette C7. Also, I just watched a video with SRT Chief Powertrain Engineer, Dick Winkles. He said they never used a truck engine in the Viper, and he's been involved with the program from the beginning. It's a myth.

They do say that a little knowledge is dangerous.. That "truck engine" block is heat-treated by Alloy Heat Treatment in Dudley, UK. The same company that heat treats the transmission "torque tube" (the trans is at the rear) for some Aston Martins.
Nothing better than seeing the owners of european "exoctica" getting blown away around a track by a yank tank that cost half as much as their bucket! At least in the old days the yanks only took the straight line honours hehe

Here's Jay Leno taking a closer look at the new Corvette Stingray;

I'm actually mightily impressed by it, mostly because it's so cheap.

I wonder if GM exclusively employs fatties too. Can't be good for their healthcare benefits!

That is one aggressive looking car.

Legendary with these V10 engines, even way back in 1993!

No sign of any roll over protection in that video, only a flimsy windscreen frame, then the roof bodywork. Did I miss something?

I think these look great, ever since seeing the original Viper in the London Excibition centre I have wanted one. Although I think I like the new Corvette even more, certainly more than Porsche's dull offerings!!

TVR ethos lives on, just with a different badge!

Looking around the UK now, that joke doesn't really work anymore.

Very dangerous - we don't realise just how fat we've become because so many people look like this.

Endlessly carrying 30-50lbs of excess fat really tires you out and leads to long term damage.

Did they not mount the viper engine into a pick up later on . I think it was the dodge ram srt 10.

And that was to challange ford's pick up.

Maybe they save more by not having to heat the workshop so much, than they spend out in extra healthcare...?

Found it odd that they are not wearing any overalls, or protective coverings. I mean all jeans have thoese metal buttons on then, all it needs is a brush pass to close for there to be scratches.

Oh yeah! Im begining to wonder whether we should all just buy american cars.... the modular design and seemingly simple integration of all the components on the production line just seems to me more 'true to form' of what we want out of cars. keeps cost down, easy to fix and bolt on bolt off parts makes keeping them going so much easier. none of this bumper off and headlight out crap to change a bulb. Great video this should be shown in schools. simple and rudimentary does have its advantages.
