Great video, but lately I'm seeing a lot more content on PH that has appeared on Jalopnik only 2-3 days ago. I realise not everyone reads Jalopnik (they should do though) but it does seem like someone at PH is just posting what they post over there.
To be fair I got a tip from Josh at Petrolicious about the vid a couple of days back but I was holding off doing anything with it because I thought we'd gone a bit heavy on the retro 911 thing lately. But then I kept getting folk saying 'have you seen this?' and I thought what the hell!

And Jack's a genuine PHer too - he mailed me around the same time as Josh to submit the vid as a potential Time For Tea? so he knows the score.

Anyway, great vid, cracking car, nice guy. All good!

Cheers,

Dan

he addresses this point on his website:

My lift is flat and covered with tile. It disappears into the floor. It wouldn’t work for most cars. My flat-bellied 911 happens to fit on it perfectly, with its drivetrain and exhaust all accessible because it’s a rear-engine car. So for me, the idea of using a flat-topped hydraulic lift table instead of a conventional automotive lift made sense. An off-the-shelf Bend Pak would definitely work for more guys and more cars. But I found a cheaper path that is uniquely suited to me and my car. That’s the kind of thinking I like most.
Helpful, thanks.

I think he needs help..... Mr OCD

Or maybe it's just that my working workshop, where I try to earn a living, looks a bit more "lived in".

Arrgh my eyes! THAT spoiler......

Good car otherwise. Just the job to pop down to the local 7-11 as he says.

I am loving what people are doing with these old 911s, some people will be up in arms about not keeping a classic Porsche in standard trim, but I find it fascinating to use different components both modern and old to make a 911 perform like a modern car, but has all the looks of a classic. The garage is not bad too.

I'd say he is a little too serious, not a big lover of the car but do like the garage, looking at sissor lift now for mine. lol

I also noticed the steering wheel action, but he is American and they are only used to ovals - probably pulls to the left too!

Nasty gravel rash on the rear wheel archs so his probably had more off's than he admitts.

Great piece of video. Lovely looking useable old school 911. Garage is very cool and seems like a nice guy. I'm guessing he may have rose jointed the front suspension as he is getting a lot of bump steer in the car.
Porsche turbo rear arches alway get a lot of gravel rash.

Arrrrrggghhhh!!!!!!!!!!

Thats what i remember most about that vid too.
Couldn't agree more, what is going on with his steering.

In its current state the garage doesn't appeal to me either - love the lift but as a package it just doesn't have any soul to it. A few engines being rebuilt, a good lathe, compressor, and milling machine for starters, along with a tyre rack of slicks would be much better.

More likely the large offset on the 17 x 9" front wheels I suspect Graeme.

Perhaps the odd oil stain on the floor???

Few points to walk away from that one...

- I actually made the missus sit down and watch that, and then explained that I can NEVER have too many hammers.

- Hold the god damn wheel properly!

- I was somewhat impressed and then the floor fking raised, seriously, I need that for everything, even if the car doesn't need work, I'd somehow need it to fix the washing machine in someway.

- It isn't finished, if there was an overhead gantry, or a crane then it may be complete.

- He strikes me as the man who has a certain brush to clean this bench and another brush to clean another bench and so on...

Epic car - Epic garage

That lift tho, it's a bit limited in what it can do surely? I mean, if you owned a car with the engine at one end and driven wheels at the other (e.g. not a 911) you'd not be able to access driveshaft/exhaust/gearbox or even the engine itself (mid-engined?), it's just really for taking wheels off/doing brakes and 911s then? smile

So it's perfect for it's intended purpose then.
