They have one in the showroom at Newbury Audi, lovely little car in the flesh....very smart.
Thought it odd that is was LHD but then on such a limited run is it really viable to make RHD too?
I guess not.

I'd still rather have an RS2 Avant.

I think you need to work on your beard. You're clearly thinking of the RS2.

S2:

RS2 (ancient estate...?):

Sorry youre right. I doscounted the actual s2 from my brain as surely nobody would be thick enough to suggest one as a comparison between this new A1 and that old thing.

I'd rather have the S2 Coupe. With a turbo charged 5 cylinder, of course. And overall, I'd rather have the RS2. It strikes me as somewhat more credible than this A1 Quattro, despite the effort Audi have obviously put into it. This A1 looks like a fking Fiat 500.

well yes, as a performance car its more credible. Its also ancient and comparing the 2 is stupid as a direct purchasing choice between the 2. One is old and will fall to bits, one will have a nice warranty and let you keep up with the Joneses. Which is why people buy Audis these days.

yes because an ancient car like that wont require anymore maintenance than a brand new A1. Right.

yes, because you're a driving god. Or a murderer. I've had some disagreements on forums before but nobodies ever threatened to run me over before, you're a real class act.

There is a difference between caring for an old car, and simply saying it will fall to bits. Mind you, this is an old Audi we're talking about. If you've ever seen one, or sat in one, you will have felt their legendary build quality. From a time when German build quality meant solid engineering, and not soft touch plastics.

I hope urquattro above overtakes your school bus at full chat tomorrow, causing you to soil yourself in front of the hard sixth form kids. Then you will see the light.

Yes because a fast car making noise would make me st myself. Get a grip you fanny. You have an old car and look after it, well done, will the prospective buyers of this A1 be considering doing the same? No they wont.

I cant stand it when folk come on and say "why buy this new car when for the same money you could have X 15 year old car". It's daft, and makes no sense whatsoever. People will buy it, this we know, when your Audi came out people probably said the same thing about buying it or a proper old quattro or something similiar.

Veed hasn't endeared himself but I think the chap makes a valid point. An S2/ RS2 simply isn't a valid comparison as the average buyer of the A1 is very unlikely to be interested in a classic Audi.

It's like somebody being interested in an X5 and being presented an E30 coupe, the 2 simply appeal to different buyers.

Surely being LHD was a stupid idea for the UK?!
As would re-engineering it for a 19 car run, no?

In fact, engineering it at all for a 333 car run is lunacy. Who said they don't have a sense of humour?
.....or so the suckers who fork out 40k for a polo will are led to believe.
