So, in effect, you are saying that the most import thing about a sports car is its relative rarity.
Not at all, the styling, the ground clearance, the fibreglass body and alu spaceframe, the fact that it was made with one thing only in mind, we should expect that from lotus, not from renault. Hi
I did advertise my car on Pistonheads late last year, this is the link http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/r...
The car is in very good condition, I did have a slight argument with a wall a couple of years ago, that was resprayed and looks as good as new. The rest of the body is very clean, the cockpit is good.
I bought it from the chap that is mentioned in the forum posts, he managed to sell me it with 12 months MOT and no catalytic convertor. So the following year we could not get it to pass emissions, we finally realised that the Cat box was empty, hence we had to fit another.
The tyres are the original factory fitted ones
Mint car comes with full service and owner history. Call to ask any questions, open to any inspection
MOT 12,400 miles, the car is currently SORL
The car is completely original it even has the original tyres, apart from a
new catalytic convertor which we fitted for its MOT last year.
The car is fitted with a Cat 1 Thatcham Immobiliser/Alarm
The car has a radio, with pull out head
The car has a tonneau cover
The car is currently garaged in my local car showroom, I only have a single garage and two cars, so if you are interested you can see it Monday to Friday. As for how much, I have had it advertised at £19k, although think £16k is more the level.

As a truck driver I have just (this week) delivered a Caterham chassis and 2 pallets of parts to a Caterham franchise/dealer in France. On their forecourt was a pristine Renault Alpine!!

Faire comments from most. The big difference of the prototype Spiders (2) delivered by Fior to Renault was that they weighed in at 650kg. An absolute stunning car that would outrun most on the track. Renault in their industrialasation changed from the Fiore aluminium welded monocoque to massive welded aluminium tubular structure. Conclussion the production version "gained" a massive 350kg!!! They weigh-in at one ton so no wonder it is not as lively and an Elise is more then a match dispite it's K series engine. How Renault lost the plot!!
I feel alot of posters on here are missing the point, as a 2nd or 3rd car and being used for a sunday blast or a track car - perfect, could you you live with one as a main car - not so sure in the UK but Monaco of course i could.
A friend of mine has one and loves it to bits, and travells to Le mans etc in his regardless of weather, Parts availability is the main concern though... any parts that come up for sale he tries to buy and store.
I am not a Renault fan but I respect them for building these quirky cars inc the clio v6 etc wish other manufacturers would build small number light weight plastic bodied cars.

I had one of these in 2001 when it was 3 years old. A blue S reg.
Bought it off an interesting gent down on the South coast if I recall.
Difficult logistics at the time meant I sold it after 5 minutes and virtually no use. I saw the same car at the NEC classic a couple of years back. The now owner a few down the line was rude and quite an idiot when I said I once owned it.
Anyway I think it's an itch I still need to scratch. So please send me a PM or suchlike if you're thinking of selling your RHD UK machine. Preferably blue.
Thanks!

I'm sure that before we undid a thing to it, we weighed mine and it came in at 920kilos, it now weighs a fair bit lessThere is one living not too far from me that I usually see about once a year on warm summer days. Always looks low and mean, although I recall the engine doesn't really live up to the looks. I seem to recall that they don't have any weather equipment - ie hoodless.
Shame there is nothing affordable that looks remotely like this on the makret today.

Around 10 years ago I saw a yacht somewhere on the Cote d'Azur (might have been Antibes, can't remember) that, instead of a jetski on the deck, had a Sport Spider instead. Looked very cool, but there's no way I'd want to be a future owner of that chassis!
