Love the 924 Carerra GT, a 924 with wide arches and a more powerful engine, what a concept ! they should have made something similar as a regular production model, Porsche really missed a trick there wink

That is stunning, I take it the front wings are different, are they still available, would be a good use of a ropey 924, i.e. creating a replica.

How much do these go for ?

I've seen them for as low as £10,000 but they aren't for sale very often. There was someone selling all the replica GRP panels you need on EBay to make a 924 into one, but I think you'd need a turbo engine to match the show really.

Low mileage mint ones were about £15k 5 years ago. Haven't checked the prices lately. it's still on the list though, possibly next Porsche.

Front wings are the same dimensions as 944, but plastic not steel.

In the mid-2000s they dipped to around eight thousand for a reasonable car, but they were quickly snapped up. Now Id expect topay double that for a reasonable car. The sky is the limit for something like a GTS Club Sport, with prices around £250,000 bandied about.

When I bought my first Frontrunner the PU wings were still available from OPCs but even then the prices were steep (£700 exc for a rear for example), but now a number of crucial parts are NLA and this would make a 937 a potentially expensive indulgence.

You still would though, wouldnt you?

Amazing - I'd almost forgotten the 944 ever existed.

Perhaps for a child of the 80s, it looks so much the quintessential car that it self-atrophies?

Yep, well I'm glad I don't live close by because I don't think I could resist the temptation otherwise spin

Yeh I know a ressurection of an old thread but back in the early eighties my TR5 ate 924,s for breakfast. Then I bought an MGBGTV8 and was severly whuped by a 924 Carrera GT at Goodwood (different league). Then one day returning from Thruxton was again outclassed by a 944.

Now 3 decades later my daughter raced a 924 with a mere 130bhp was lapping Brands in 58sec !!! and was regularly on the podium and a win to boot.
Now she is in the lead of her championship racing a production Boxster with 7 wins this year, however she is only 1 sec faster round Brands!
Which says a lot for the sheer grip that these front eng Porsches possess cos it aint the power thats for sure.

I am so impressed with the 924/944 models that I am now the proud owner of a 1987 944 and I love it though compared with my Quantum turbo its not quick really but a great tourer, which is why I bought it.

Would that be Rebecca and her red Boxster?

Doing well she is. Respect we have. Le Mans we expect....

Yes she is the one she is.
Le Mans we hope.
I almost bought a Boxster but I am tight wad plus they seem to always be silver.
My Dolomite Sprint payed for the Porsche and as I write it is on board ship going to the States where the new owner will look after it. They have a habit of giving their cars names and have named it "Rebecca Queen of Speed" which is a bit long, my new car is already called "Porky Pig".

Nice that this two year old thread gets onto the home page as a 'you might like' link.
