The young twerp in his white i20(?), well a small recent Hyundai of some sort anyway, got riled when I overtook him in Hartlepool (well within the speed limit, he was dawdling) in my sixteen year old Rover Coupe and promptly undertook me at well over the speed limit (in this case forty). Caught up with him at the last set of lights going out of Hartlepool as he had got caught out in the right hand lane (which has a camera to catch those that run the red light) after trying to overtake someone else and had slammed on the anchors stopping him over the line but not far enough to trigger the camera.

I'm ashamed to say that I acted a wee bit of a knob and showed him a clean pair of heels off the lights and he only caught up because I slowed down for the fifty limit going through Newton Bewley, acted a wee bit more of a knob when he started to pull up alongside, shades on, head down, right arm atop the wheel I erm... tweaked the throttle a bit and pull away a touch.

The Rover's responded well to the engine rebuild mind biggrin .

Owner of e36 BMW just seen at a pals workshop.

Was dropped off at night and next morning driven to workshop by pal. Investigates strong stench of fuel to find fuel lines near tank replaced with windscreen washer pipe! Also noted indicators weren't working and discovered no lights or indicators are even connected! Also been hit so hard in the front there are stacks of washers used to align front wings! Seems it was more important to spend cash on the massive rear wing and alloys with tyres that are too narrow!
LOL; you really need to keep us updated on what happens!

The lane 4 hogging bit is unacceptable.
But, after taking my driving test, I took a further lessopn on motorway driving and was taught to treat each lane 'as a separate lane' - and hence each lane manouvre over the dotted line as a separate mirror/signal/move.
That was the offically way to do it, as per the highway code (because each lane is a separate roadway).
It would be interesting if any driving instructors on PH have a view on this?
I'm not sure how you read what you read from that post but yes obviously each separate lane is a separate lane and yes you have to m/s/m, that doesn't mean you can hog, over taking lanes are still only for over taking and if you're not over taking you have to m/s/m yourself into a more lefterly lane.

Not sure why you consider driving instructors an authority on driving hehe
If you read the post of Joggers I replied to and quoted............

He mentioned in point 3 that the lane hogger moved from lane 4 to 1 in instalments. I took that to mean three separate moves and NOT one big swerve.

I don't believe there is anything I have written that justifies or promotes lane hogging - but feel free to point out any text you think may do so.

When you're walking through a car park and a driver decides they just have to park in the space you're walking past even though there are loads of other spaces. Seems to happen every time I go to Tesco.

K20 *** Audi R8 this morning, undertaking everyone at well over 60 in a 30 in the bus lane coming off the roundabout by the Willow Brook centre, Bradley Stoke.

Second time I've seen him do this.

Sounded lovely though.
I've done this once, not to that extent though. paperbag

Approaching to take second exit on the roundabout and continue along Bradley Stoke Way. Nothing approaching the roundabout from any direction so I change into third, final check right to ensure nothing coming, and enter the roundabout at around 25mph. As I look forward again there's a Skoda Fabia approaching from the left and the driver decides that actually looking to see what is coming is beneath him, and turns left onto the road I'm about to use.

Rather than brake sharply and re-establish my following distance, I decided to quickly duck into the bus lane, pass him, and move back out again. IIRC the whole manoeuvre was complete within seven seconds.

I knew at the time it was wrong, but it was so smooth and the timing was perfect...

Ah, I read it as simply moving from 4 to 3 very slowly, which was confusing, although it could also simply imply he took his sweet time about finally moving to 1, I don't think Joggers was suggesting going 4->1 in a single manoeuvre. I guess I misread your post.. sorry.

This morning, Vectra with for sale sign on windscreen. I guess no point putting it in the back windows as they were so dark it'd be invisible. Also smoked rear lights and seemingly lacked indicators scratchchin
Audiman on the DC tries to pull out to overtake, twitches back when he notices there's a car already there and moving faster than him, then decides to pull out anyway and holds up that car (and me behind). Eventually moves over. In animated(waving hands about) conversation (didn't see if on phone, to passenger or hands free).

I do this a lot in Aberdeen except I don't need to go faster than 30 and I'm doing outside the 'in-use' times. They might as well add a sign saying 'MarkRSi's lane at all other times' hehe

The knob in Aberdeen who, in a tribute to Paul Walker, bounced his engine off the limiter so long that he ended up setting his car on fire.

Poetic!
Said knob was recently fined £750. His actions were described as "crass stupidity".

Me. Misjudged pulling in, as traffic on A30 came to abrupt halt behind a double decker bus of all things. I actually nipped past rather than risk skid and/or slight collision with Merc' ahead but concede probably didn't appear that way to him. As a result he shook coffee beans galore, as I waved an apology.

Ill be honest,
He could have meant that too??

Im sure he will be back at some point to confirm if the guy took ages from 4 to 3, or did separate 4,3,2,1's.

He could've done with some Dashcam footage!! getmecoat

Just to clarify the point about the Corsa driver. I was trying to say (probably not that clearly wink) that he took ages to move into lane 3.The reason the BIB gave him a flash was that they were trying to get past and he was still partially straddling lane 4. Hope that's all clear? biggrin

Me today - drove straight through a no entry because I was admiring a beautiful BMW Z8 just parked on a narrow street in France. Nobody seemed too bothered but I was rather embarrassed!

Alwaays feel so sorry for these poor sods. The warm weather melts the glue and they have to hang onto the roof to stop it blowing away...

Seems to affect the door locks too. Many people seen with their arms holding the door closed.....

Dont know if it is a south coast thing, but have seen it a lot over the last few months, the 1 series driver tonight that looked as though he was struggling to even reach the roof has tipped me over the edge.

It's very common round here (Farnborough, Hants). I saw one car load of halfwits, and every window was wound down, and all four of the 'laaaaads' in the car were holding onto the bloody roof. Another one I spotted, the silver haired old duffer had his sunroof open and was holding onto the roof through the opening. I feckin' loathe them. Asshats tongue out

This was about a year ago, and I was the knob!

I went down a one way street, decided I had went the wrong way so decided to do a U-turn, which was fine. Until a car with a man in maybe his 50's wouldn't let me get past, when there was clearly a gap for him to move into! So I turned my engine off, crossed my arms and turned the music up a bit (Knob) he then got out, so did I.... he was smiling, and he said its a one way street. I've never felt so embarrassed in my life, I shook his hand an appologised, done another u-turn and drove off, ha!

At least I knew I was a knob, then again half the people out there that do knobish things have no idea they actually do them, I'm glad I'm self-awar!
