The barely shaving oik in a silver Golf GT behind me thought he'd be clever and look to overtake a line of traffic (basically a JCB, a box van, a car and then me) going uphill, on a double white line going towards a blind bend in Bishop Auckland (this bit - http://tinyurl.com/ptup7qs). Thankfully he thought better of it and pulled back in behind me after going fully over the lines because a Mazda 3 came round the bend twenty seconds later.

Reading is a nightmare for giffers and Doris's on the roads. Do you also get the people who are heading towards you but are 300+ metres away turning their main beams on as you overtake? I don't get the logic, why would you dazzle someone who's oncoming in your lane, it's only going to make them getting out of your way harder!
I get this too and I'd like to think there is a special place in hell reserved for this particular pedigree of twunt.

Giltbrook Retail Park, as you exit there are 2 lanes which are marked as being able to turn right at the roundabout. Smart people use lane 1 to go right, sheep use lane 2 and sit in ques and ques of traffic. I use lane 1 as I want to turn left at the next roundabout, so off I tootle, following a car in front. To my right there is a Mini Clubman, as we exit the roundabout Mini cuts in L1, narrowly avoiding the front of my car and blasting her horn and flashing her lights at the car in front of me. She then cuts back into L2 to turn right at the next roundabout. Absolutely no idea what her problem was. As I got level at the next roundabout, I look across and see kids throwing things round the car, super.

I don't think the knob was me but I'll let you decide.

Driving through Steeton village, there's a set of traffic lights then a 30mph bit through the outskirts of the village then it goes NSL and has double-white lines all along.

I'm through the traffic lights and notice a car rapidly approaching, and sits about an inch from my bumper. I see it's a taxi, so not overly surprised.

As I approach the NSL section the driver looks a bit twitchy - it's still double-white lines in the centre for quite a distance (as there's a blind bend just after it goes NSL).

Google map link

Anyway, it goes to NSL and I speed up. I look in my rear view mirror and the taxi is getting smaller, however it's also completely over the double-white lines on the wrong side of the road - I think he thought I was going to carry on at 30mph in the 60 section, and has just decided to go for it, then I've left him (in the dust! Well, on the wrong side of the road). As I continue to pull away, he saunters back across the double-lines.

To be fair, it's THE worst road I've experienced for the 40mph everywhere dawdlers - the ones that pull away from you in the 30mph section then hold you up in the NSL, then show no signs of slowing down when it becomes 30mph again, but it was always going to be an 'interesting' manoeuvre in any instance.

Dual carriageway this morning, bloke in front in black polo pootling along around 40mph, 50 limit. I indicate, pull into the outside lane, overtake, indicate and pull back in, in front of him. I left at least 4 car lengths before pulling in yet still he's on the horn and waving madly.
Tool.

biggrin

I'm leaning more towards tool. About half a mile after I'd passed him is a petrol station, as you can imagine joining a dual carriageway from it at standstill is tricky at the best of times. The car in front of me moved to the outside lane and I see a car waiting to pull out of petrol station so I move over too. Polo driver (who's sped up in annoyance by now) can't fail to have noticed considerate motorists moving over to let the car out, but he stays where he is anyway and blocks the guy.

Seemingly one of those drivers whom nobody is allowed to overtake and can't see past the end of his bonnet.

Seen a couple of these, usually on some stty grot-box driven by an elderly bloke or angry looking woman. There was one I used to see quite regularly on the A40 who did the typical drive-35-everywhere-and-brake-if-anyone-comes-the-other-way behaviour of idiot drivers.

I used to make a game of overtaking her with the largest possible speed differential.

On a similar theme, I saw a pick-up with a sticker that said 'Heaven won't have me and Hell's afraid I'll take over'.

I can't imagine what he thinks other people will make of that.

People who are being overtaken flash and get angry. People coming towards you, who are a spec of dust in the distance, also flash and get angry. Neither of these people are affected in anyway, yet somehow feel the need to vent anger about the overtake. Its like everyone's meant to carry on doing 35mph everywhere and should someone dare decide to do the speed limit, they should be told what a fool they are via the use of headlights and coffee beans.

Mind boggles.

Tosser driving a green Clio Mk1 this morning on the A432 heading towards the ringroad near Emersons's Green in Bristol. Was all over the back of a car doing 30 in a 30, residential area, lots of traffic coming towards us.

It kept diving from side to side (even looking up the inside on a single carriageway, not sure what he was thinking!), eventually overtakes around the outside of a central island, all to come to a halt 1/4 mile up the road at the traffic lights to join the ringroad rolleyes

Mr Mental today in a southbound Insignia Estate on the A329 the other side of the Winnrsh Rounabout. He was about 100yds in front and suddenly just anchored up like he had hit an invisible brick wall. Halts for about 10 secs and then indicates left and pulls off. I am slowly catching him when he does it again, only this time i decided i would pass him, when i look in the nearside mirror to make sure ok to pull in,he is pulling away again and trying to match my speed. However inicator on 4 ton bus wins over idiot driving, as he receeded in the mirror i just eased over and carried on with my life

Think this sums up people on the road today, angry even when they're 100% in the wrong.

Queing traffic which backed up over a raised zebra crossing. I was just past the crossing stuck in traffic when a Civic pulled up behind me, stopping directly over the zebra crossing. As its raised up, like a speed hump, its clearly obvious as to where it starts and stops from, together with lines and flashing lights. Anyway, along pops a pedestrian, gets to the zebra crossing then looks at the women, hold his hands up and has to walk round the front of the car. As he gets to the middle of the road, as hes not on the crossing another car doesn't see him and has to slam on. The pedestrian is now, rightly so, very angry at the Civic who blocked the zebra crossing and causing this problem. So he shouts, "You stupid idiot" at the Civic. The women in the Civic, who was in her 50's I'd say, winds down her window to apologise I presumed, but I was wrong. I have no idea what she was saying as she was practically foaming at the mouth as she screamed and shouted at this man. The man, clearly took aback by this, told her she was a "f-ing idiot" and continued walking along the pavement, but this wasn't the end of it. She gets out her car and starts ranting at him as he walks off. Last I saw was this women walking after then man, going absolutely crazy at him. Something along the lines of, "Not my f-ing problem you nearly got knocked down, use your f-ing eyes you f-ing idiot".

Still have no idea how she thought he was in the wrong. She blocked a safe way to cross the road nearly causing someone to get knocked down, yet somehow she was in the right and the pedestrian was in the wrong. The mind boggles.

I think you are right. A lot of drivers think that crossings are not to be stopped at, I rarely see people stop at them, unless they are parked on them or queueing on it.

Same for any junction - roundabouts are a great example and a whole topic on their own - where people just stop where the back of the car in front is, having paid no attention whatsoever to their surroundings and what is getting blocked by their car.

IMHO 99% of women are never wrong, or responsible for anything bad, ever.
