But if some head PURPOSELY uses the WRONG lane then why should I allow them to push in? They have zero right of way, they are in a lane for a different turning so there is no reason for me to allow them to push in. Simple.
The guy was originally in the que for straight only (estimated 5 cars behind me), saw turn right only had 2 cars in and so switched lane. He is a knob, end of.
You didn't do anything wrong initially. He did. But you blocking the merge does not improve anything. It won't teach that kinda douche anything.
But yes I agree with you, can't be sure how people react. I saw a video sometime ago of a similar situation that happened to a guy in his TT. The vauxhall driver in the wrong wanted to push in so bad he ended up making contact.

ThAts good, I know you're not meant to do what I did but you're really not meant to overtake at junctions and speed in a 30 road.The stupid bint today in the bright yellow Ka,bimbling along at 30 on a wide,fast NSL B road,who joined the NSL A68 at a T junction,without stopping or looking,right in front of a car going at a proper speed! He had to slam on the anchors(and amazingly didnt give her a long blast of the horn..I know I would have!) & then carries on at 30 down the A68.

On a serious note, I would suggest that the vast majority of motorists do not mind when a legitamate overtake is performed. That's life on the road.
Many motorists do,however,get a bit ansty when they are over/undertaken in a stationary,slow moving,or road works situation when other drivers gain distance in an underhand way.
HGV drivers have been 'blocking' in these situations for years.
Sunday M25 overhead gantries indicating inside lane closed merge... as it happens the inside lane wasn't closed and several cars proceeded to use said lane while lanes 2, 3 & 4 were stationary (TBH I really don;t have a problem with this), the knob was the guy in the Galaxy who pulled 3/4's of the way into the inside lane to stop people doing this. KNOB!!!

Their problem, shouldn't be blocking. Last Saturday I was driving past Sandy on the A1 and it was closed Nbound between Sandy and Black Cat. Ridiculous thing was everyone in the left lane stationary when it said "right lane closing in 800 yards". 800 yards! Bloody use it all. Reckon I was out of that mess half an hour before the people I saw joining the back of the queue. Nothing underhanded, just using my brain.Many motorists do,however,get a bit ansty when they are over/undertaken in a stationary,slow moving,or road works situation when other drivers gain distance in an underhand way.

Many drivers will keep to the open lane well before the merge. Perhaps thay are just being courteous? After all 800 yards is not that long a delay.

Yes. its the same as lane markings on a roundabout, where some tt decides to
1) straightline it or
2) take the last turning off from the left hand lane
both action are entirely LEGAL.. STuPID most definitely, but LEGAL
I have had several conversations with plod and road traffic engineers and they both say the lines are advisory, and if the rh signal ,EVEN THOUGH it has a turn right arrow on the green aspect that too is advisory
It is the same on a DC car in outer lane drifts/moves to inside lane or v.v. The offence is DWDCA should the contstabules wish to proceed. ie will they get a conviction. otherwise its a stern talking to
Yes i am with you 100% it just needs people pointing the errors out to the local highway dept, and keep on informing then.Trouble is they do SFA and when there is an accident they wake up.
Now if there was a law where it could be proven that dspite being advised of a dangerous situation they did nothing and then get reamed for it in court, it might make them concentrate in the first place

Yesterday evening on my way into work I was nearly hit by an overtaking Audi on Lynn Road, Wisbech. Obviously that driver hasn't seen the Penis Experiment clip or has and needs one of those vacuum pump things.
Anyway I lift my right hand off my bars to give a hand gesture not part of the Highway Code when I am overtaken again by someone with blue lights on the roof.
Mr Audi is pulled over in the next lay by and the passenger of the Police car flags me down.
It would have been a conversation if he kept his gob shut.

A couple of hours later I found out via a colleague Mr Audi gave the Police attitude so they ended up giving him three points and a hundred Pound fine for SP50 as he was doing over sixty when they played back the video of the overtake. It would have been a conversation if he kept his gob shut.
Two this morning, the first a plonker in a Ford pick up who thought that drifting across to the second lane (which I was occupying at the time) without bothering to indicate or even look was a good idea. The second is an unidentified arse who's been spilling diesel on frigging roundabouts in Hartlepool, I went from inside to outside lane in one smooth, judder free arc with the steering apparently having no effect on trajectory. It's a small mercy no-one was next to me, the roundabout before this is the usual suspect as it's happened to me on that one on more than a few occasions in both the Rover and Alfa.

Equating bad driving to penis size is pathetic and no one else thinks your video is funny, give it a rest.You were probably lucky to not get a FPN for public order for your offensive hand gesture (more damming of our legal system than you)
OTOH, nice to see someone get their just desserts and I applaud the officers what dealt with the situation in the correct manner
