RE: Chris Harris video: SL63 vs M6
Discussion
Another cracking video. I've said it before and I'll say it again the ability of these videos to fufil the car geek in us, coupled with the excellent shots by Carey (presumably), makes them unmissable for me.
Let Top Gear be Top Gear and cater for the masses, let these Drive channel videos continue to be high quality and cater for their own niche.
I watch these every week on my tv via the AppleTV, I rarely turn the tv on to watch live tv like top gear.

SL for me, but with a less pointlessly powerful engine.
M6 wouldn't get a look in, hate cars with too much road noise.
I do sometimes wonder whether Chris's videos should come with a Don't try this at home" warning in a bid to try and stop the hard of thinking from emulating his ESP off sideways slides on public roads, but I guess it probably wouldn't do much good.
Just have to hope I'm never coming the other way...

Saw this vid being filmed on Scotland Road (the long straight-ish B-road in the film) - passed the M6 parked up, and despite it being the new '6, thought nothing more than 'another M6. Meh.' Seeing the SL coming the other way by the bridge caused me to look twice - the old SL55 AMG was much easier on the eye, but the new one certainly has presence in spades.
Cracking vid, and sorry if I got in the way (was driving a green and white brick).

Great video Chris - just don't be tempted by a career in TV.
As for the cars - the SL looks like a melted welly from the front - and with that stupid matt paint looks like a car driven by someone you'd rather not be stuck in a lift with.
M6 looks better, and i'm sure the Merc drives better. but 50k more expensive?
£140k buys a lot of nice cars. In my view the SLS roadster is the most beautiful car merc makes and could be bought used for that price.

"Do a set of rear brake pads in a month" ....?
This confused me. That would make sense if it used an open diff with brake application (e-diff) but he also states it uses a mechanical diff.GTO Scott said:

Surely not as it was on a closed road Seriously, I worry that if one day Mr Harris has a serious accident while testing, someone will use these videos in court to argue a case of dangerous driving as a contributing factor.
(zip up flame suit)

It's an interesting observation that the true rival (M6 cab) would have been utterly stomped by the SL. and yet he still comes out slightly in favour of the M6, weird......
Don't really see them as rivals, the M6 cab is a big 4 seater... Not really true rivals at all. If you want 4 seats, open top, the SL is off the list. Now if the M6 cab was a 2 seater...HighwayStar said:

Still don't get the i-drive bashing it's a piece of p**s to use.
I like the rear of the SL but over all the M6 is better looking (yes I am biased) still don't see the rivalry, as has been said M6 is 4 seater and SL is 2 and SL is 40k+ more.
Still, good video's for finding out facts about the cars, though I still enjoy Top Gear I just don't take it seriously. It's just three blokes doing what we all like to do - arseing around with cars and machines.
