OK this is utter tosh, the majority of traffic, especially urban traffic is stty little four pots between the range of 1.4 and 2.0 displacement that this legislation will make no difference to. They make a valid point about noise polution being detrimental to health but the occassional thundering V8/V12 enriches the life all but the most hardcore Victor Meldrew's in my opinion.
Why not have a far better public transport system to get all those people fed up with their day commute(of which I know many) out of their cars thus massivley cutting the volume of noise pollution and leaving clearer safer roads for those that enjoy driving? Oh but that's right it will stop the relentless drive to get everyone to continue to consume so it'll never happen.

Because buses and trains are just about the loudest way to travel, so putting everyone on them doesn't decrease noise pollution.
