OK, so not universally liked. It is different to what most on here prefer.I like it apart from the rear end, which I don't think is hideous. I honestly believe most people on here are just following the herd and are spouting any old rubbish. Sure, I wouldn't buy it, but if I needed great rear access and wanted more of a cruiser than the sportier 3 series saloon I'd take a look at it.
I actually prefer the front end to the saloon too.

I honestly believe anybody who likes that car is just another BMW fanboy. I actually prefer the front end to the saloon too.

Each to their own.
tbh i rather have 3GT over touring or 4 or 5 series, after living with last 328 touring a year it looked great but not as practical as first thought and passengers didn't like the ride eithe. For which I thank the Chinese markets for forcing change to a better model through actually buying them

That makes sense. The GT has more rear load space and easier access opening to the rear through the rear doors. yonex said:

Exactly, each to there own... You honestly believe blah blah lol. You've given it that much thought!!! You need to get out more. I don't care whether or not someone buys a car I wouldn't buy. Who the fk cares. It's not like they are spending your money is it? Hate it by all means but if someone thinks it's just what they need it doesn't mean it was bought because it's a BMW. After all, they could buy a 3 series saloon or a touring instead, which no doubt would be fine with you! Each to their own.
A neighbour has a Vectra, a mind numbingly boring car I'm sure you'll agree, but he's not and enthusiast. A wife, 2 young kids, he just wants to get from here to there.
This 3 series GT interest me not one iota but I wouldn't label potential owners as this or that. It just doesn't matter.

We'll see how the market takes to them, I don't see many 5 GT's compared to touring etc so looks like I might be in the majority (again)
I don't think you have any idea of how the GT will sell globally. A SWB and LWB 3GT and 5GT will sell well compared to the mainstream touring, as they offer different things for different customers. So aren't people who consider the touring BMW fan boys too? Don't they deserve your ridicule?

It would make a lot more sense if they called this the '4-series' and kept a 2-door 3er. However BMW nomenclature lost it ever since 328i stopped meaning a 3er with a 2.8 petrol lump.
They have done that for decades, the day the 328i first appeared it was alongside a 323i with a 2.5. There are also even older examples.vsonix said:
Yeah but it's got totally out of hand now with all the engines being the same size in differing states of tune. At least before there was only ever one or two hundred cc in it. The 323 had to be a 323 to avoid confusion with the older 325 of the same shape.
The economies have changed. Manufacturing has changed. The world has changed. Welcome to 2013.
