Can see the appeal of a 3 series hatchback, but that just looks like a chubby waste of metal.

BMW must be really bored at the moment.

The inevitable 3 dr version might look a little better.

I'm waiting until they do a Touring version of this, a Grand Touring Touring, and then a larger version of that, the Grand Touring Touring Grand, and then hopefully there will be a GT version of that for people who like their Grand Touring Touring Grand a bit more GT whilst being a bit less Grand and a bit less Touring, although now I think about it, it'd be better if it had two less doors and was a saloon.

well nobody ever said cars had to be beautiful, if you don't like it, believe it or not you don't have to buy it, but somebody will like it. I personally wont be buying one, but at leasts its another car to choose from.

It looks like the misconceived lovechild of Quasimodo and a 3 series coupe. They should call it The Esmerelda. "My eyes, my eyes.."

These coupe-like saloons are pointless. You're not fooling anyone that its a coupe but instead you get an ugly car with less headroom in the back.

The 5GT surely can't be enough of a sales success to warrant producing a 3GT... can it? I don't see the niche at all, which possibly means they're aiming it at a non-European market - like the victorians maybe?

5 series chassis?
The 5 Series GT is based on 7 Series's chassis. But, I'm pretty sure this 3 Series GT is just a normal 3 Series saloon with a different roof line...

It's not as ugly as the 5GT or any 1 series

erm - I'm not sure I like it but it's actually better than I expected...

Given that the 'enthusiast' will be getting a 4 series anyway - I'm not sure I mind if they pervert the 3. Hatches are far more practical than saloons - I've never, ever seen the point of saloons, at best I'll tolerate one, I'd never actually choose one if I had a complete range of choice.

I imagine it's a bit pointless tho - like the first 3 Series Touring which barely had space for 1 lot of shopping? smile

The only Audi models i like are the A5 Hatch and the A7 - which is only available as a hatch.
Yet i cant stand the BMW 5GT or this 3GT.....

Yuck.

Still, at least we have their FWD 1 series to look foward too:

"prices typically £1,300 over the equivalent Touring model" - why? For most ranges of cars the hatchback costs less than the estate, not more, e.g., Mondeo estate approx. £1,000 more than hatchback.

Between this and the front drive 1 series, I think BMW are trying to systematically destroy what BMW cars are, desirable RWD drivers cars. They are getting heavier, less attractive and less RWD by the minute!

I like it, I'm also a fan of the 5GT too, i just don't get why most seem to hate the looks of the GT models, the 5GT for example is a far nicer looking car than the A7, and the 3GT is certainly better than the dull A5 Sportback that seems to be rolling out of Ingolstadt by the bucketload

Im not sure where its place in the 3 series range is, but BMW seem to know what they are doing, i would have one over the saloon no problem.
