my godfather has one and it's lovely! He was going to trade it in for a DB7 but i convinced him not to.

Tyres are wallet busting.....as is having to mend the auto box (which he just has).

I really like the look of these, plus they look really 'understated'imo. If I had one I'd totally de badge the boot, sure a few people would think that it was a tarted up 5 series with Alpina wheels on it, but that's their look out.

But for me the E39 B10 was an Alpina sweetspot. The shape lent itself so well to the Alpina body styling, wheels and reduced ride-height – especially the Touring. There’s lots to watch out for on these, and many people know all about them on the interweb, but by far my biggest gripe with running a B10 was bending wheels. I still have 6 buckled ones in the shed.
I think you may be referring to this particular B10 3.3 Touring; I've owned this since 2006, it has done 151,000 miles now and is still lovely though it does now have a rust issue & an oil habit. Just the one buckled wheel but I do run 16 inch BMW turbine wheels & Avon Ice Touring tyres during the winter, which I think has helped.

Very nice, not a fan of the wood though, but have always loved Alpinas.

The B10 3.2 or 3.3 with a manual box is the best combo, I once had a b10 3.2 manual, lovely car.

Truly great car, absolutely bonkers car dealer "see if someone is also bonkers enough to pay it" price. £10k is the right price for this car (probably £4k more than they paid for it).

I'm not sure the supposedly sweeter steering of the straight six cars would compensate for the lack of grunt of the V8 or V8S cars - the steering on the V8 cars works very well with the suspension and chassis for a better overall package.

The Touring's are rather nice though....

come on pistonhead chappies !!! wakey wakey !!!
this car has been advertised on 4 star clissics for months !!!
my point is though, i spotted a ur quattro for sale some time ago which was being sold by 4 star classics and when i went to their site spent the next hour looking over their stock - they seem to specialise in classic bmw (and anything old yet pristine)but its the detail in the pictures and descripion of the cars their selling - its a shame more websites dont do the same ! have a look on their site boys, tell me im wrong !!!
p.s. - im not trying to boost business for them or anything to do with the company but it is a good website with some intresting cars.

Agreed, it's one of those sites that I check in on every few weeks to have a browse, along with 911-Virgin, Avantgarde, Munich Legends & Classic-Heroes. High prices, but usually well-presented and interesting stock

Love the E39, so much Infact that I've just bought one (in facelift 530D manual guise). I'd love a V8, but just got rid of my Audi S2 as I couldn't live with average mpg in the teens.

The Alpinas are very special cars though, and many of them have all the options ticked.

Yes. All good. Top chaps to deal with. Bought from them (twice) and sold through them.

I miss my old V8S, only sold to move to LHD country. As soon as I find a tidy one here I'll be back in one though driving

Lovely, but not quite as lovely as an E34 B10 BiTurbo or V8 IMO
Surprised too that Chris Harris doesn't even mention it in the article.

How long did they take to sell your car?

How long did they take to sell it, or how long before someone came along wanting to buy it?

With respect, it's a slightly odd question at that end of the market. A lot of the stuff they sell is only of interest to a very small pool of people.

Some stuff goes in a week, other stuff seems to hang around. Everything sells eventually.

I think the 6er sold in about two months. The M5 has been with them since just before Christmas (not a great time to be selling!) and seems to have some interest already.

The long and the short of it... I have no complaints!
