Seeing as the 100,000 mile club is so easy to reach with modern cars. 200,000 thou is the
next target.

Most cars these days will reach 250~300K with ease anyway, so lets take the stigmatism out
of 100K.

Post up you high mileages.

My E46 M3 is just a beginner at 113K.

Current mx5 is at 220,000km (135k miles)... Recently compression tested with good results across all 4 cylinders.

My mate's old Peugeot 305 had just over four hundred grand on it when he sold it. It was used mostly for towing a twin axle car trailer and as a mini cab.

My e46 330i turned 142k yesterday. I'm currently doing 22k per annum, so should see the big 200 in 3 years.

My previous car, an e39 520i was at 175k before I traded it.

Mrs TT's Galaxy is at 173k, but she's barely cracking 5k per annum.

But my 2005 Mustang GT is still sitting at less than 18k hehe

Disagree with this, most of the 25 cars I have owned have been over 100k miles, and a good few of them have had major and costly repairs, so sure they'll do the miles if you have deep enough pockets.

Examples all over 100k miles:

Audi A6, power steering rack needed replacing after it blew a seal.
E46 M3, all sorts of expensive issues, CAT's, steering fluid leak, rear floor cracking.
E61 530D, rear suspension collapsed with no warning causing significant damage.

None of these issues are covered under routine servicing and most are hella expensive, so 250k miles with ease? I don't see it happening.

Except that the design life for modern cars is 300,000 miles in most cases.

Of course it's possible, and as the OP said, 200k is the target because 100k is now easy for most vehicles. Certainly my 141k E46 328i has never given its owners any major bills, nor me any problems!

Just because some examples have failed doesn't mean the cars aren't capable of the mileage smile

My current E36 328i saloon has 207,000 miles...no major bills in the last 80,000 miles, at least.

I've also had an E34 530i (M30 engine) that went to 225,000 or so and was still going perfectly when it was written off, a Peugeot 505STi saloon with 200,000+ when sold and an E28 525i saloon with over 210,000 when sold.
My old Merc 609D panel van had will in excess of 500,000Km when sold...orginal engine and box, too, but the rear axle was rebuilt at around 300,000Km
