While I'm at it, the wife's ST 200 Tourer, (Jan 2000 reg)- I used it for the first 106k miles for 4 years and the wife has added the rest since.

Had to replace the gear box at 190k, but found one on e-bay for £50 and had it fitted for £200 smile

VAG Coilpacks are another famous service item. They cost considerably more than a headgasket too.
Wow, by headgasket are you quoting the price of just the gasket in which case all HG are cheap but some can cost hundreds to fit.

A VAG Coilpack are about £25-30 each but can be replaced individually unlike a lot of cars where they come as one unit eg my stty citreon which costs £115 for a set of coilpacks when only one failed!

My old E34 525i died at 275,000. Head gasket went, and cracked cylinder head... frown

Pah ! 200K miles, barely run in. Taxi in Dubai last night, 708'000 KM ! It felt like a 50'00KM car, no squeaks, rattles or anything else untoward. Less than 3 years old too !

It's amazing to think you've still got both - I remember enviously reading your posts what must be about 10 years ago back when I had a Mondeo and lusted after an E39.

There are quite a few Jaguar XJ40s about with 200-300,000 recorded miles about, even some with more than 400,000 out there on the internet, but they're old cars now so I'm not sure it counts.

1976 MGB now showing 306k

1st 20 thou rebore at about 90k but crank not touched.

Gearbox and OD 100% untouched until a couple of months ago when the OD went noisy so was replaced, actual gearbox still untouched.

Used to do 24k pa and 44k in one year, never broken down, at least nothing which I haven't fixed on the spot and continued my journey.

It'll be a Camry or Sentra no doubt. Looks a bit like previous gen's Camry dials.

Speaking of the UAE, my Mum's nissan patrol SWB(aka capsula) 4.5 OHV has done way over 300k km, is pretty much only used offroad or to get to offroading locations and hasn't missed a beat as far as I know. She used it last month to ferry ESPN camera guys around the Abu Dhabi desert challenge rally. Just replaced their Toyota FJ Cruiser at 4 years old for a Nissan Patrol 4.8 LWB as they were worried it would start falling to bits with all the offroading!
