...not there yet, but my E81 118d 2008 "vintage" N47, you know the engine that was suppose to blow up and eat its chain, has just hit 150,000 rather easily, so not long till 200k, probably next year.
You'll learn, gloating like this normally means it goes bang next week. Good luck biggrin

I've previously bought a Golf MK4 GT TDi (PD 130 engine) with 126k on the clock, then sold it on 242k 6 months ago. Reliability was excellent and gave me enough confidence to drive to France, Spain and Belgium on separate occasions. Was a '52 reg and one of the later MK4's so perhaps the later production run examples had the niggles/issues ironed out.

The ownership of that car has certainly changed my opinion of owning and purchasing a 'high' mileage car but they can prove difficult to sell on as many people think cars self-destruct over 100k miles.

True, but one of the things I like about buying a cheap higher mileage car is the knowledge that, once I've piled a load more miles on it, I'll be perfectly happy to just scrap the thing without feeling it owes me anything, thus avoiding the need to deal with the Great British car-buying public!

This dear old thing is currently sat SORN at 230k after being my daily driver for 4 years (I bought her with 172k IIRC).

Just need to get my ass in gear and get her back up and running with her bigger bottom end (ooh err).

It's not uncommon for oil pump to fail relating to timing chain failure and because of BMWs advanced engineering no oil pressure light is fitted - I lunched a freshly rebuild 2009 520d like this last year - engine was completely scrap.

My Jaguar XJ was at about 170,000 miles when I scrapped it. With a new V mount and some rear suspension work it would have done the next 30,000 without too much issue I think, despite the transmission slowly falling to pieces.

yes
200k is not unusual for a Volvo to achieve such mileage, and apart from one rear drop link that could need replacing soon'ish, she runs absolutely spot on!

She's on an 02 plate and was a pass down from my ol'man - I'm now the 3rd owner from newsmile

Had a RRC with 170k miles which ran really nicely and used that as a daily drive for a while.
Also had an A8 4.2 Quattro with 212k miles on used as a daily drive. Got bored so sold it but it was still running beautifully.
The biggest mileage was a Volvo S70 T5 with 221k miles when I sold it. Still running original exhaust, clutch, gearbox, wheel bearings etc etc etc.
It was a great car and I really should have kept it but the A8 called very strongly (that lovely V8...)
I currently run a Smart Roadster with 140k miles on it (60k of them put on by me). Hopefully it'll pass the 200k mile mark before its retired.

My 2004 2.0TDCI Mondeo just clicked over 325,000km - 201,945mi. 215,000km of that done by me.
Once had a Landcruiser (HJ47) in Oz that had 480,000km when I sold it. Was still going strong.

I currently use this from time to time:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/302094254648?ssPageName=...

If I am honest, I doubt many would know it had that many miles on if I was unscrupulous. MOT history doesn't help that mind you...

To get to 325k it's taken the following from 134k:

-New shocks and springs all round; I got to know which shocks lasted and which didn't.
-Tyres (obviously)
-Lots of oil (again...)
-Servicing every 10k without fail)
-Ignition leads x 3 (I am too tight to pay Ford prices and wknecor/Aftermarket stuff never seems to last in comparison)
-Rear drop links
-Brake discs and pads all round
-Rear calipers, with the N/S being changed earlier
-Steering wheel ; a later leather item.
-Alternator x 2 ; first alternator had a seized clutch pulley and made a racket. The replacement secondhand item lasted a year before it stopped charging. It's now on a new item.
-Head ; the head was rebuilt at 209k due to the valves burning out.

I've probably forgotten other bits but nevermind.

This is the last shot I took of the mileage:

I'd keep the car and keep the M3 for weekends if I could. Space issues however dictate that I can't.
