I think what 6 pages has proven is that there is no such thing as the coolest wheels. The wheels have to match the car. What looks good on one car can look stupid on another. Can you imagine minilites on a quatro or white OZ multi spokes on a mini? Blerg.

For me it's the early 80's Group 5 cars that have the nicest wheels on them. Many examples are already posted like the BMW 320 / BMW M1 and Porsche 935 but for me it must be those cars that entered the japanese based Fuji Silhouette Cup that take the cake. Many nice ones but especially the Silvia with them Hoshino deep dishes on it.

This car, i NEED to know more!
The wheels are pretty epic as well.
Definitely.

Some info on the Silvia here: http://www.tomeipowered.com/BTE/index.php/2011/07/...

And a little bit on the Skyline here: http://www.nissan-dubai.com/en/web/heritage/skylin...

Looks like Ebbro do pretty smart looking diecasts of both which would look pretty awesome amongst the bric-a-brac on my mantel piece.

It has to be these. So many memories of racing my Scalextric version in this this Texaco livery; it was always a bit faster and looser than the Shell one.

I'm almost certain I've still got those cars. Need to dig them out and let them loose on my new Scalextric set biggrin
I have a Matchbox Superkings version of this car.

.... i've always assumed the upward exhausts were to aid rear downforce (by increasing airspeed under the rear wing and maybe also drawing air out from beneath the car) .... much like a modern F1 car blows the exhaust under the rear wing .... but i may be wrong, according to the wife i usually am smile

Yeah, nice wheels. Not a million miles away from the wheels on the 155Ti I posted, or, at a stretch, the wheels on my own little Merc.

Some really nice wheels being displayed in previous posts - so what if they aren't all on actual racing cars - every poster is a Piston Head and that's what matters I think, a great topic.

I like BBS myself and here's a couple of photo's of my old skateboard of a Ferrari with BBS LM's fitted.
