RE: PH Blog: deep dish

One of my favourites is the original Koenigsegg CC8S wheel. Distinctive and not overdone.

One of the most distinctive is the Sbarro Osmos floating hub:

The Audi lives in Germany (Sinsheim) now.
they also have this:
If anyone is near Sinsheim I thoroughly recommend you visit the museum! http://sinsheim.technik-museum.de/en

Why don't manufacturers put deep dish wheels on their cars these days?
I love deep dish wheels!
Creates drag?I love deep dish wheels!
Deep dish means shorter axle/suspension arms = greater geometry angle change = potential handling issues.
Most cars that ran deep dish wheels were usually to increase the car's track over the std model using the std suspension component dimensions. But is you could lengthen the suspension components then you could fine tune the suspension better.
Plus, the 1980s arrived and the onslaught of FWD and fashion became flat wheels, as FWD doesn't lend itself to deep dish very well.
Or something like that.
(prepares to be shot down by those more in the know)

I'd also add the ones on the E26 M1 and the Rothmans Porsche 962
