RE: You Know You Want to: Mercedes S70 AMG
Discussion
"Hhello, I am calling on behalfs of my esteemed employer who wish to purchase your large AMG Mercediss. Please be advise if you refuse Mr Koruptin's offer he will have you framed for fraud and put in prisons or perhaps hire hitman to poison you. Hello, goodbye."
You never know, it might work if combined with a generous offer.

If that doesn't scream owned by the Yakuza, then nothing does.
+1. I was about to make the same comment! Not rubbish Garlick - also true for non criminal Japanese high net worth types. It was a prestige thing for them and it explains why Japan is also a good source of exotic LHD only Alpinas. The road tax system over there works on age and emissions (from recollection) so something like this is now worth a lot less in Japan than it is over here.

I have heard that there is a Japanese term "The Man with the Tanned Left Arm" which means "a rich man". It's because an LHD car is seen as prestigious over there.vanschpunk said:
No matter what, this Merc (nor will any other large barge merc), ever live up to this absolute weapon!!!!
I agree with you. This was the ultimate super-Merc of it's day, and truly the epitome of quality - nothing will EVER come close, and the W140 is the best effort to date...
(btw, is that a picture of a model car?!)

I don't believe there's any tax/financial implications to choosing LHD over RHD. My understanding is that LHD is chosen purely to emphasize the car's 'foreign' status. I've seen even humble Golfs in LHD in Japan, although it seems more common among Porsches, Mercedes etc.
