RE: You Know You Want to: Mercedes S70 AMG
Discussion
I was fortunate enough to drive a cl70, about this time last year, as it happens.
A very very quick car with a relentless rate of acceleration.
I had a standard w140 s600l at the time and it was interesting to compare them.
That being said, the hilariously low prices of an s65l (move back to oz and you will cry at how low prices are in the uk) mean that if I had my time back again, an s65l would have been on the driveway.

My dad has an 08 S500L owned from new, silver with AMG wheels and skirt package. It looks good certainly but doesnt do much for me. Yours is proper though. And I don't even mean the engine, the black colour with wheels in the low light make it look proper gangsterWhen I was growing up my dad bought a 1981 500SEL - sadly what later turned out to be a poorly maintained example with numerous electrical faults and a crashy suspension. But damn that thing was cool. Not as cool as the one in Devil's Double though
My favorite S-Klasse of all time is definitely the W140. Would love an S70 and can't believe I didnt know they existed til now, I thought the AMG W140 was the S73, but perhaps that was a one-off for the Sultan of Brunei.
OT: In the late 90s I had a brochure of Mercedes wheels and there was one AMG design I believe that was 19" and six spokes. Anyone know the name or where I could get a set?
Really like to have another W140 in the family.
For uniqueness and crazyness i'd quite like a gullwing door W140 version.
Can you imagine how gangster that would look with all the doors up with a group of triads with semi auto weapons sat in.
Must be able to make money renting that out for gangster movies.

Hi Guys
Please don't forget that besides the AMG 70 and the super rare 73, AMG also produced a few 72s. Very rare and mainly only possible to get from Japan, if one is lucky.
These are original German AMG cars which were shipped to Japan.
Mine looks like this

Hi Dusty
I went through great efforts of fixing and replacing whatever needs to be done to overcome the "kinderkrankheiten" of the V12 engines.

It's left hand drive too, which apparently the Yakuza insist upon.
Why is that?A left hander showed that you were rich enough to buy the car abroad, have it imported and pay the massive duty on foreign goods into Japan.
Also it was easier for the chauffeur to pull up and quickly get out of the car to open the Bosses door, as the driver's seat is already on the kerbside.
