Yes, we need more of that twin turbo V10. A V10 is crazy enough, a twin turbo'd one?! Goodness, I might have just found a car for the dream garage!
Actually, scratch that. Give me an unmuffled N/A V10 everytime.

As much as I love forced induction, for 'complex' sounding engine like a V10, I'd want to hear every single nuance of that V10 roar...

When I visit people near Danbury in Essex I sometimes see a blue V10 with the reg V10 CRY. Anyone on here?

It's running 852PS / 869Nm currently, (AMD Dyno) the R-Tronic box is exactly the same as the manual (& Gallardo E-Gear) just with an automated clutch.

There are 25+ Heffner Performance cars running happily in the US plus those from other tuners on std transmission... I'm told 1000WHP is about it... the stage 3 stuff (1500WHP) run modified sequential I believe.
I'm sure your know even with standard Gallardo the milage on the standard and uprated clutches are about 3-5k miles at best. Having done such job several times on im astonished the tiny wafer thin clutches even last that long on R8 and Gallardo's even uprated ones have similar lifespan as the original. Not a bad job at all half a day engine out new clutch and slave back in and on the road, the annoying thing is some paddle clutches say 100+ shifts to bed it in.

I loved this article. You will always have detractors on here but its a given on this forum. So please ignore them and bring more articles like this.

My only criticism is that you don't do this more often! Also if I may add that I'm sure you'd be able to do similar features on various marques even less prestigious cars like Golf GTI's ;-) (can u tell i own one). It is though most refreshing to read the views of people who own the cars and actually use them. It gives a totally different viewpoint.

Well done PH and please keep up the good work!

Great article Dan!, R-Tronic automated manual v S-Tronic DCT v Manual transmission will no doubt be debated long and hard as ever.

They all have there pros/cons, ultimately it's all down to user preference, IMO cars (all, not just "performance") are about feel within the environment in which they are used.. and thats where we all differ thankfully :-)

Looks like this under the skin....

OMG! i'm having a moment here...that is just pure car porn!

+1 to that! I love reading about how owners are getting on with their cars and what their thoughts are.

Whatever you do in life, you can't please all of the people all of the time. So carry on Dan, you're doing a sterling job matey! smile

I agree that it could be interesting, though this seems like a very odd quote to me:

"Owner satisfaction with the R8 is, it seems, extremely high."

How did you measure that? By asking the people that showed up on a "bring your R8 out for a meet and to get a peek around the next R8!". Really, you actually expected people that have/had an R8 but aren't really fond of it? hehe
Why is that an odd quote? The owners they spoke to were all satisfied with their cars!
I may be wrong but that seems to match the views of most of the posts on here too. The majority of people who don't like the R8 don't appear to have owned one. Not many unhappy owners on here from what I can make out, just a lot of people who don't find the car desirable.
