I've noticed the Burmester sound system is now offered on the Cayman configurator.
An option on the 991.

I never have and never will understand the point of spending a lot of money to reproduce a sound stage in one of the worst acoustic environments to listen to music. Burmester make some sublime hi-fi equipment though. An option on the 991.

Still not what I'd call beautiful, it just doesn't have that "last look over the shoulder" factor for me but it's definitely a huge improvement over the last one.
This car IS the reason why so many other sports cars in this price range fail. Brilliant handling, powerful bespoke V6 engine which loves to rev and build quality that other manufactures can only dream of. Lotus and Alfa et al, take note!

Not even a Porsche fan but this seems to be the most complete sports car on sale from any manufacturer and by quite some margin.
And does it really need more power? You want to work a car somewhat on a British road. I almost think that now the 911 is becoming ever more 'premium', and with variants becoming ever more focused on laptimes and 'beating' other marques' efforts, that Porsche concentrate harder on the Cayman's dynamics because the engine isn't the get-out clause for lack of resolution in other areas.

Looks great. I wonder if the 2.7 will be the better car for UK roads. 275bhp in a relatively light, relatively compact chassis sounds plenty to me.
What I'm wondering. Currently pondering what a 2.7 manual with a few options would be like. Must resist. I had a gen 1 Cayman S for 4 years and did 50,000 miles in including several European trips.
As an all rounder it was brilliant but mine unfortunately suffered from the scored cylinder liner issue which resulted in a £7k engine rebuilt which left a sour taste.
Lets hope the new one doesn't suffer similar issues.

Can I be the first person to ask why not just save a few grand, buy a Boxster and enjoy the wind in your hair
I know it has 5bhp more, some thinner metal in its construction and a roof but I do find some of the superlatives being thrown at the new Cayman a bit "Emporer's new clothes". Does it *really* drive so differently to its little sister?
It's not so many weeks ago Chris was lusting over the new Boxster in his excellent video.
I still struggle to think of any other car where the convertible model is cheaper than the hatchback, Porsche's greatest demonstration here is in the genius of its marketing.
I was loaned this for a few days a couple of weeks ago, certainly didn't seem to lack any form of structural rigidity, it drove very well indeed.
