A sound generator in a Prius would be funny, but here, I can't help but think the marketing boys have gone a few shades too far.

Reminds me when people used to put star wars cards into spokes to create a "Parpp"

Works on a Grifter but on Clio RS?.......

no

No Clio has ever had an LSD. It's hardly a cop out. No car in the class has an LSD either!

Can't wait to drive one.
Mazda 3 MPS has an LSD biggrin

But I agree it should be a hoot to drive.

So it has the sound "piped in" as standard but, additionally, you have an app to replicate classic engine notes?!

I know that the app is clearly a bit of fun but why, seriously, spend time on something like that?

I thought the Corsa VXR nurburgring thingy had a LSD?

On topic, not a fan of the looks, but I don't think renaultsport will suddenly stop being able to make good hot hatch, just because they've changed the engine and gearbox.
Indeed it did. List price was higher too as it was a limited edition.

I can't think of any standard small hatch that's been given an LSD. Not that I wouldn't like it to have one, but people can't complain about it being too expensive and then say they want an LSD too to make it more expensive smile

I just re-read the article to find it's been changed. So it looks like the new Clio won't get the Perfohub suspension setup, which is a bit disappointing.

This car is simply not growing on me.

I love hot Renault's, had a drive in a 182, 197 and test drove a 200. Great fun and I very well might buy a 200 in a couple of years.

This one leaves me completely cold. I don't like the design, nor the fact it doesn't come with a manual as standard, I don't like the fact it doesn't come as a 3-door as standard. It also doesn't strike me as that different from the standard clio.

Fingers crossed for the Fiesta ST.

Not that long ago, I remember when the MKV Golf GTI was first introduced, its starting price was £19,995. And that was a proper German C-Segment hatch with a 2.0L turbo engine. People compliant about how expensive the new MINI (B-Segment hatch just like Clio) is. The fact is the base price of the Cooper S is 'only' £18k...

I always thought an A-Segment hot hatch should be £10k-£12.5k. B-Segment should be £12.5k-£15k. And C-Segment (none Audi/BMW/Mec) should be £15k-£20k...

A double-clutch 'box, a turbocharged engine and plenty "onboard gadgetry" - in a car built by Renault... eek

Correct; I'd phoned Renault to check and was told it was Perfohub - or probably was - and then got a call back to say it wasn't. Sadly I'd published by that point so had to redact, while keeping within my 572-word limit of course. Caused no end of headaches that!

Anyway, is now correct and sadly no Perfohub.

Cheers,

Dan

I'll go out on a limb and say, the engine noise thing actually sounds quite amusing, and I dare say there are a few on here who would agree, but wouldn't dare say so for the risk of being shot!

Not strictly necessary for sure, but definitely has potential to be amusing, as long as its not trying to simulate an F1 car, and you can turn it off. Although I suspect the appeal may wear thin after a while.

Badly needed better fuel economy - from what I've read the 197/200 is poor in that respect.

I'll also go out on a limb and say those looks are NOT growing on me. This is a seriously fugly car.

I don't mind it.

It will never be a 172 Cup but might just turn out to be a good steer.

Look forward to reading some roadtests.

Wait, seven different engine notes?! So it's not just trying to overcome sound deadening or anything (which i think is what the M5's system does?) but making up the noises and letting you choose from a variety?

Ill have a V12 please!

Idiotic.
