Had a gander around a new non Rs model yesterday whilst visiting my old colleagues
I'm afraid to say that the front is comical if I'm being generous
The renault badge is straight off a lorry and the headlights are ridiculously
Huge, gonna have a drive of the RS when they get a demo, but it isn't my cup of tea
One little bit, yuck

New cars aren't great looking in general but this car is shockingly ugly.

I know small hatches have to tick many boxes but surely it doesn't restrain the design that much that it ends up how it has done.

With cars like the BMW 1series slowly edging south when residuals are taken into account surely there can't be a world of difference in monthly payments or the New Focus ST will actually be cheaper (maybe)........

Anyone buying one of these for list will surely be on the road to losing around 10k in depreciation in three years (on a Clio!) that is madness IMO.

Indeed it did. List price was higher too as it was a limited edition.

I can't think of any standard small hatch that's been given an LSD. Not that I wouldn't like it to have one, but people can't complain about it being too expensive and then say they want an LSD too to make it more expensive smile
R53 Cooper S had LSD. Later models had the software version.

Not really its a case of hideous looks and wrong gearbox for me. I'm sure it will be a good steer
But that won't be enough for me with this model I'm afraid,

"There's also the, er, R-Sound Effect app, which reproduces a choice of seven classic engine notes over the speakers and varies them according to throttle position to complete the effect."

It just reminds me of downloadable ringtones on mobile phones. I don't get it. How long before you can mess around with the sounds on the app and make your Clio sound like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gr9Z8MkHJZM

I'm saddened that "sub £20k" is mentioned in the summary as newsworthy: I should bloody well hope so!
The appeal of a hot hatch is that it's cheap, light and has a powerful enough engine to be fun.

Where did it all go badly wrong?

[quote=loveice]I always thought an A-Segment hot hatch should be £10k-£12.5k. B-Segment should be £12.5k-£15k. And C-Segment (none Audi/BMW/Mec) should be £15k-£20k... [/loveice]

And then there is the real world. I bet our companies think they should pay us 25% less money too!!

Pedant warning...

IIRC the 197 didn't have Perfohub. Only the 200.

As for the 200 T, I am sure it will go well, but I do not like the looks at all. If I was in the market for a French hot hatch, I would go for the Megane and even the Twingo over this.

The 197 did have the perfohub. I believe it was revised for the 200..

So as well as not having bespoke bodywork for the RS version and loosing Brembo's I now learn from this article that the new clio won't even have the Perfohub suspension that made the old version handle so amazingly.

This car is such a pile of pants- Renault you should be ashamed; you've ruined the best drivers car under £50k.
