So as well as not having bespoke bodywork for the RS version and loosing Brembo's I now learn from this article that the new clio won't even have the Perfohub suspension that made the old version handle so amazingly.

This car is such a pile of pants- Renault you should be ashamed; you've ruined the best drivers car under £50k.
+1 What a sorry state of affairs this car has become. If it's a sales flop, will Renault go back to a winning formula?

Given that people on the recent Megane 265 thread were whining it's as compromised as a KTM XBow on the basis the doors are a bit long and the clutch is a bit heavy and therefore totally unsuitable for a commute, isn't Renault just giving what people want...? rolleyes

Correct; I'd phoned Renault to check and was told it was Perfohub - or probably was - and then got a call back to say it wasn't. Sadly I'd published by that point so had to redact, while keeping within my 572-word limit of course. Caused no end of headaches that!

Anyway, is now correct and sadly no Perfohub.

Cheers,

Dan
Cheers Dan, I guessed their press release had probably been a bit hard to decipher!

I've still got a lot of hope for the car though!

That front end will take me some getting used to.

I saw a new Clio in a shopping centre recently (just a normal one obviously) and I couldnt get over the size of it, its bloody huge! Very similar in size to a Focus, at least it seemed like that.

They should offer a real cup version without all that electronic dash and st, not many will want the electronic sound thingymabob.
I find it hilarious that they think a electronic dashboard showing pointless figures like a game of Forza Motorsports FAR outweighs a manual gearbox for enthusiasts rolleyes.

To be honest if you think a 3 door Megane has longer doors than any other 3 door car of similar size
You must be deluded and my rs250 clutch is not even remotely heavy lol to put it into context a Clio 2 clutch is about 3 times as heavy, it's about the same as most modern clutches, light as a feather lol

So how many of you whining about the no manual option would actually buy one if it had a manual box?

Having telemetry in a road car aimed at young male drivers will just give the anti speed brigade even more ammunition. Not sure I'd want my car to record my last hours driving and it be so readily available, plod has the right to check your phone to see if you were using it, would they have the right to access this?

If it had looked a bit better than awful than probably yes ?
And your pointless point being ? Perhaps you could do a manual conversion for all your whinging customer base wink

I feel for you! Although my current hot hatch is vastly faster, I still miss my Clio 182 Trophies terribly (especially the first one!).

So for £3k less I could have a Fiesta ST which looks fantastic compared to this, or pay £2k more and have a Focus ST?

Chances it anywhere near as good to drive as the Clio are slim at best.

I actually think it's a good looking thing! And in all honesty, with the way small cars are having to be shaped (for safety and packaging), 5 doors makes sense aesthetically.

The gearbox is concerning, although I'm sure it'll be very good. It's not so much car manufacturers I blame for it - it's the people who prefer them. The car buying public is killing the manual, and that's sad. The exhaust is a joke. Fun in a joke car, like a 1.2 polo, but not in a car that's actually meant to be sporty. And the "acoustic pipe" st they're putting in - no, just no. Everyone's doing it, and everyone's st at it.

I would still have a clio200 - it's a proper little race car, but this... Too gimmicky for me, too much of a mini.

Looks nice in this color combo, can't wait to hear how it drives.

And yes they make a driver focused car "OMGH it hoyrts me back this car is shyte" "cheapz shyte interior",they make this and i can comfirm the interior is premium nothing like any R.S model of before and the "real hardcore drivers" come out.

Also they confirm to have received a shed load of orders for the Clio 4 ,R.S included, good for them.
