I'm an Alfa fan but fail to see the appeal of this or why the Brera and GT received such fanfare as both are loathesome in my opinion. Crap to drive and horrible to look at.
Funny, my partner has a Brera and we constantly get comments on what a lovely car it is, people even stop to tell me when I'm cleaning it! Personally I really like the ride and drive, it's quite a heavy car but a great GT. My partner doesn't want to get rid even with kids on the way.

There is so much horrible, bland, every day, run of the mill designs about now it is rare to get anything that stands out, just look at the new BMW 3 series GT...

I'll have a slab of square yesterday any day over that bland concept. Aren't concepts supposed to shock and awe? this is so rounded with minimalist creases i already forgot what it looked like just now ...

Did you have a nasty experience in '97?

Looks pretty good to me and I can imagine it 'almost' making it into production looking like that.

Of course, no-one will want to buy it new in the UK, so it'll be a rare sight.

BTW, where have all the 156s gone? There seemed to be loads of them sold when they were new, but you never seen one these days...

Where have all the 156s gone to you ask? Mostly to join the 155s I would guess.....BROKEN CAM BELTS!

Love those slimline headlights.

Here's hoping the Gloria shows that the trend for absurdly oversized light housings is coming to an end.

Having said that, the latest Nissan Note displays another craze - meaningless door swages.

Nissan calls it a 'squash line', appropriate in that it looks like a parking accident.

Don't say that - la-la-la. I'm not listening. I am sure my V6 can hang on another month or two... paperbag

Here's some more that have turned up, although it's still just imaginary iPad nonsense:

Wow, I'd buy that in a heartbeat. The four-door in the main article looks good too. Despite recent hatchback abominations, Alfa still knows how to design a beautiful car.
Fingers crossed this is what the Mazda/Alfa will look like

Yes, the 1st time I saw the Brera it blew me away. I'd never owned an Alfa before and although I couldn't afford one, I bought a GTV6 instead and saved up a few years.

Have now owned it for coming on 2 years and over 100,000 miles on the clock and still I look back at it when I park up.

In my opinion it stands head and shoulders above any other car today which are all carbon copies of each other. Just look at the "box on wheels" designs of BMW & Chrysler. It is also the best driving car I have owned. It's sure to be a future classic with it's timeless design.

There is no other car on the market today that I'd choose over the Brera although the 4C could change my mind!!

So despite my expectations from the press release, they did build an actual car (or model), rather than just having it on an iPad.

Hmm, love that,

The biggest frontal design cue though, those thin lights, would that be possible? Just wondering with today's tech, could they make proper lights that thin?

Good question. I suspect you could technically do it, i.e. produce a suitable intensity and beam pattern. Whether it would be practical or acceptable for current type approval rules is another question. For example, that particular design would be susceptible to getting covered in crap.
