why on earth do people always want to put MUSIC under a video once an older car gets in sight? I don't get it. I really don't.
Not just for an older car... ANY car video should be forbidden to have any music other than the sound of the engine.

The "objects in mirror are losing" made me chuckle though smile

Didn't find the music too intrusive on this one, the retro vibe fitted quite well.

That was quite an upsetting read.

Take one lovely tidy and original Alfa GT. Add a Japanese 4 pot turbo all with the character and sound of a fart. Chop out the bulkhead and fabricate new larger one to make the gearbox fit, and add stupid floor mounted pedalbox as original pedals no longer fit. Chop original petrol tank in half and turn it into part of the boot floor. Make the most hideous abortion of a steering linkage that gagging to knock out the tracking on every other bump. Fit nasty modern suede steering wheel.

To be fair the quality of the fabrication looks excellent, and obviously it's his car to do with whatever he wants. He has ruined it however, especially as one of his stated goals was :

"One of my key objectives was to be sympathetic with the conversion and not destroy the car. Whilst it may be modified there is no reason that some day in the future the owner (whether it is me or not) could put the car back to original if they wanted to."

Not good for the stomach. On the other hand, looks like a reversible job. Something for the next owner. Looks pretty good still, worth saving.

+ 1.I don't understand Jim's logic. Alfaholics transplants modern Alfa twin spark engines, and altough I don't agree with this, there is at least a line running from the old twin cam through to the early twin spark engines. The Nissan engine is not even charismatic, like say the Honda VTEC is. Perhps it was a question of cost. I know tuning an existing unit to produce 200+ bhp is very costly, (just ask Alfoholics) but hey each to their own...

It's not what I call a 'sympathetic' conversion so doesn't get a thumbs up from me, looks great from the outside but it's a 'cross-species' heart transplant... at a stretch I could embrace a nice 2.5 GTV V6 transplant (carbs) at least there is some provenance in that. (and the V6 does sound fking glorious)

Being the owner of a part restored 1750 GTV, seeing that swap prompted me to join up & comment. In general I agree with what you say - as soon as he cut into the firewall it went well beyond 'sympathetic' into the territory of bdisation. These cars are starting to get a bit too rare & special to chop up like that, just to fit a "better" engine.

What particularly bugs me about it, is if he wants turbo performance, he could have turbocharged an original Alfa engine to make more than enough power for the 105 chassis to cope with, rather than create this mongrel. It just seems so unnecessary to me to wreck a nice step-front like that.

PS. I like this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hn6CrOQlcpk linked in the other Alfa thread of the 1300 Junior, beautiful looking car, and you gotta love the unadulterated induction note of those webers smile
