Just had an enquiry on a 92,000 mile Civic hybrid.
He wanted to know if he shipped it to Pakistan to give to a family member would I guarantee that it would last for at least another five years.
Let me think about that.
Well of course you would guarantee that, second the cars exported its got not a jot to do with you lolHe wanted to know if he shipped it to Pakistan to give to a family member would I guarantee that it would last for at least another five years.

Chap has just asked me for £10,000.00 for his Mercedes ML that's worth £5,500.00 to £6,000.00 Max.
I asked him if it was towing a boat.
Where's that WHOOSH parrot when you need it......
When my manager was selling, if he came across someone wanting far more for their car than it was worth, he would ask if there were any drugs in the boot!!I asked him if it was towing a boat.

I had a chap with an old untidy CLK cab worth £1500 or so, I offered him £2000 for it, he replied that it was worth at least £5-6k. I asked him if it was towing a boat.
Bar of gold in the glovebox maybe?

Its a shame there isn't a legal way to sell the odd swopper to a sensible customer as seen.
In some countries there are. Many moons ago, I ran a trade disposal site for an Australian BMW/Saab/Subaru dealer. We had all sorts. But the customer could waive their stat rights. Although, it did bite you sometimes if you forgot to do the forms. I recall one customer who agreed to the waiver but I was off and my boss delivered the car and he thought I had done the forms. Turns out no one had. The good news was that the stat warranty limit was the value of the car (depending on sale price and mileage) unfortunately this car was just over the price minimum and below the mileage limitation. The result? An $11995 car that required $ 11995 worth of repairs! Bloody fabulous car afterwards, though!

I had one of these a few years ago - 7 owners - 180,000 miles - every panel damaged - roof ripped - no history and to cap it all it was a CAT C write off. The conversation went something like this.Bar of gold in the glovebox maybe?
"What's it worth then mate?"
"I'm afraid to say that I don't really want it"
"Well it must be worth something"
"I'm sorry, but I REALLY don't want it"
"You can't do that, you have to offer me something!"
"I'll ring a pal of mine who's got a farm in Yorkshire - I think he needs somewhere to keep his chickens..."
Of course it goes without saying that the chap wouldn't tell us which car he was interested in, how much he had to spend, wouldn't slow down, just "how much is my car worth" and then swiftly followed up with "just a ballpark, I won't hold you to it" which of course is a pack of lies.

If I had £5 for every time I heard this, I reckon I could buy a new Dacia, and Supagard it. Sorry Renault boys, j/k

Where's the catch?
I suspect it is dependant on you continuing to return to the main dealer for servicing throughout its life and perhaps only valid for the original owner (similar to Vauxhall's "Warranty for Life" program) so it is unlikely to ever 'payout'. Check the rules and regs very carefully if it's going to influence your decision-making.
So someone left a deposit via our website on a car at one of our branches 25 miles away from here, the lead was passed to me before it was realised that the guy lived on their doorstep.
So I called him and he can only make tonight at 4:30 to see it, I thought I may aswell go over myself to deal with it as it has gone a bit quiet here, so I agreed to get back to him to confirm the appt. I wanted to check what my colleague had on as he can't be left by himself if he has an appt.
He had an appt. at 5:00 so I passed the enquiry onto someone else at the branch the car was at.
I come in this morning and my colleagues appt. has e-mailed him to let him know that they wont be coming, arghhhhhh!!

I'm curious. Been seeing loads of hoardings here advertising the new 1.6 diesel Civic with the motor guaranteed for 1 million kms (600,000 miles). Where's the catch?
http://www.civinfo.com/forum/user-reviews-9g/89248-civic-1-6-diesel-4.htmlNo major catch by the look of it.
