Some people prefer hatchbacks to saloons and don't want an estate.
I am such a person. I'm quite sure there are plenty of us.
And I don't get the collective sheep-like condemnation of the 3 series styling. It looks like a 3 series hatchback. Its a bit late 90's Hyundai in its styling maybe, but its not ugly. Just a bit dull.
And while there are Peugeots on the planet that apparently go relatively uncriticised in the styling department, it seems unfair to single out this car for derision.
I second that. I am such a person. I'm quite sure there are plenty of us.

When did the Touring love-in begin? It doesn’t seem that long ago that they were being criticised for being a ‘lifestyle’ vehicle and not a proper estate, “There’s more room in a Focus etc. etc..”
I for one would prefer a hatch to an estate and I’m going to reserve judgement until I see the 3GT in the flesh.
BMW used to make some good looking cars and this one seems even uglier because of that.
Don't worry I think the CLS is terrible too and the RCZ is really nice. There, I'm not biased.
However on the touring vs GT front, i run an E91 touring, and wouldn't say no to a new F31, but, trouble is, I cannot fit my 3 kids in the back...the GT would resolve this...
With the 3GT they're just following Audi.
Up until now BMW will see every Audi A5 5 dr as a lost sale due to not having an equivalent car.
This will suit people who wanted a 3 series but couldn't get one because they need or think they need a hatchback, but don't want an estate because the sierra estate they had in 86 was a bit boomy.

It appears that BMW have found their market in your good self and I am sure they will sell more.I am such a person. I'm quite sure there are plenty of us.

Unfortunately this is not the only BMW singled out for derision ...... there are now a growing number of them and I say that as a long term BMW owner and enthusiast.

Good God, massive BMW fan but that just makes me sad and angry. Hope it fails.
I think that sums it up. We BMW enthusiasts bewildered by their current direction that seems hell bent on producing some cars that a few think they want and designs unloved by those that don't.

I agree with this. Currently in the market for a larger car to fit the pram and some shopping, found that the 3ser tourer was too small. Missus doesn't want an estate, and doesn't like the others available. So what's left. Mondeo, insignia/vectra etc. Nothing inspiring in other words, so I think the 3gt is a good move Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
