I must say the Gallardo has aged well. Its basic styling is terrific.

Still looks good ten years on.

Agreed - the mid-life refresh to add the new front bumper and various tweaks really made it look current again. For me the biggest attraction is that magnificent engine.

I found the "reventon" rear lights the best improvement, never liked the "wrap around" original ones.

10/10 for me. Rear wheel drive Lamborghini, does it get much better? I suppose it could be brighter..

This or the R8? Well this, but there is the small question of price!

Am I missing something with the car in the ad - and it being pitched by the OP as a bargain?

It's two years old, done reaonable miles and, barring options, is only £20k below full list.

Nothing against the car as a fine tool - more that given the amount of them for sale and most supercars propensity to huge initial depreciation it doesn't seem that cheap.

Huge initial depreciation? On what? A 458 was list for yonks, and even at 2+ yrs old they're £165k for one with sod all spec. A decent one will still be way above £170k (which is the list price before options).

With the G's, a 9yr old 2004 original (with older 5ltr V10, and 494hp) is £65k if it's decent (against £100k initial asking price). The newer LP's are all £110k+ for a decent one (there's one at £100k but research that dealer!), even 2008's, which seems fair given that they're 5.2 V10 and 550hp or so. That's a drop of 30% in 4yrs.

There may be big initial depreciation on front engined supercars - the DBS, SLS, FF etc..... but there is not on mid engined stuff. Midengined Ferrari's and Lambo's both keep spectacular value.

I've always had a hankering for a Lamborghini, but the classifieds all seem to carry a similar theme that puts me of:

1. Just had between a £5-£8k service
2. Just had £2.5k new clutch

Clutch intervals seem to be more regular than service intervals, hence one of my reasons for being beyond my realms of justification.

Two things you can't argue with however are strong residuals and no mickey mouse replicas parking up alongside.

Actually thinking of buying a Gallardo at some point soon. I think its quite a triumph of styling to my eyes.

Its simple, neat, and looks very purposeful, without the pseudo halfords wings and fins that seem to be the standard kit to entice footballers these days. In a recent PH thread there was one sitting in amongst a load of ferrari exotica, at an exhibition held at a local exgineering works in the uk. To be honest I would have preferred that Gallardo over any of them. A nice gray one with a hard hat would do me. :~)

Yep, its my favourite colour, and if it were a manual it would be my ideal car.

The wing would have to go though frown.

If its your car congrats, I'm very jealous, and if you are ver passing near to brands hatch you have free use of the two post lift in my garage because I'm dying to see underneath one of these things.

In terms of servicing and clutch, from experience the first year service cost me £900, second year cost £2100 or thereabouts. Not bad for a 200mph supercar?

Clutches are an issue on pre-08 models, on LP's I've never heard of anyone needing to change one. Even on 30,000 miles + cars.
