Did i somehow get linked through to a different video from everyone else?? What i saw was a frankly tall, heavy, and "not that hot" hatch driving in a relatively composed but dull safe fwd fashion around a damp smooth circuit. It was clear the only thing getting it sideways was momentum oversteer with a large exagerated handwheel input, and by the time the slide had been contained and the momentum bled away, the car had practically stopped moving.
agreed. love to see someone properly wring it's neck around that course, like they'd stolen it.

That sounded dreadful. I'm potentially in the market for a new hot hatch but despite their capabilities the horrible turbo 4 pot engines compete put me off.
Dull as dishwater, don't rev very high and sound like sewing machines.
It doesn't have to be like that, not forever anyway. Won't be long before someone makes some decent induction and exhausts (or you could go custom) and that will get a rorty old noise out of it. It will always be a turbo 4, but they don't have to sound as dire as that one in the video.Dull as dishwater, don't rev very high and sound like sewing machines.

Terrible video, badly filmed and edited and what the hell was that music all about?
I was really keen on one of these, but that has put me off!
If I was Ford I'd get Chris Harris and his team to do the next promo....
I agree entirely, what an awful video, I'm surprised to be awake at the end. And incidentally, I like Ford, like their cars, love how they give the blue collar guy just what they need within a price point etc etc, so i'm not being cynical for fun, it's just simply a pants video.I was really keen on one of these, but that has put me off!

So a video would prevent you from buying a car you like ?The thing is, I have not decided to buy one - I would never buy any car without driving it first - but if I was going to base spending seventeen grand purely on internet reviews and social media, that video could be enough to put me off. It left me feeling deflated.

Well, it's hardly meant to be a fire-breathing monster...
Car will also have a Sound Symposer.
Just to clarify, the Sound Symposer is a pipe directing actual engine noise in to the cabin area when you give it the beans. It's not engine noises being pumped in through the speakers. Car will also have a Sound Symposer.
I think this video is actually a really important indication that Ford understand that the drivers of these car want to be involved and perhaps not be laid on a bed of ESP all the time. I don't think this will top the new Clio but I do think it will be a step in the right direction and bodes well for future sporty models in Ford's range.

I personally think that Renault have shot themselves in the foot with this new Clio and the new Fiesta will be a really good alternative to those who don't like it.ali4390 said:
I'm a big fan of this car, so much so I will hopefully be placing my order tomorrow.
Has nothing to do with the fact I work for Ford, will be swapping from my Z4 Coupe because I honestly believe it will be a great car to drive.
Not a black Z4 Coupe at Warley by any chance? There can't be too many other Z4 owning Fordies around.Has nothing to do with the fact I work for Ford, will be swapping from my Z4 Coupe because I honestly believe it will be a great car to drive.
I have the Focus zetec s which has the same engine, Sound Symposer or whatever, it does actually sound quite nice and yet very quiet when you want it to be, perfect for me. I wouldn't say it doesn't rev, redline is 6500 RPM I think, if not 7k. I previously had a Fiesta zetec s, it was fun but lacked torque which made it a pain to drive sensibly, you'd have to change gear to get up hills! With this engine it'll go really nicely, go for a drive before you slag it off... oh wait, it's the internet, just slag it off before it's released and before anyone other than the build team has driven it!
BTW, I've also had a Focus ST and never torque steered it into a hedge.
