Not a fan of the looks like most modern cars but as llong as it has a manual box, a manual handrake and no stop-start, it's good with me.

Actually, that's a good point. Looks aside, it's promising.

No doubt Mountune will offer a pack (with Ford warranty) that notches it up to 200bhp as well.

I understand they are working on something.

Very excited to see what it is/what it sounds like.

Not a black Z4 Coupe at Warley by any chance? There can't be too many other Z4 owning Fordies around.
That's the one. Are you a fellow Fordie?

That was pure cheese utterly crap video. 80's style camera work and editing.
Just out of interest, what would have been acceptable to you?

At a guess I'm thinking, heavily modded from showroom spec car, bass heavy soundtrack, over dubbed with engine noise and a stunt driver doing big skids with explosions going off in the background.

Certainly am. I saw yours in the car park and thought it looked so much better than my roadster. O/T but how much difference did your quad exhaust make?

Driver is a Ford employee, it's a Ford video, chances are they can't be too lairy otherwise they'd fall foul of advertising restrictions. Which unfortunately does make it a bit cheesy.
Whenever there's a front-on tracking shot in videos like this I always want to know what the camera car is.

I believe US spec is 200bhp, so I imagine the Mountune offering will be virtually the same as this.

Given the options on the previous Fiesta ST, there could be some nice bits and bobs to add...

Just to clarify, the Sound Symposer is a pipe directing actual engine noise in to the cabin area when you give it the beans. It's not engine noises being pumped in through the speakers.
This was introduced on the 2010 Mustang.

There's a slight misunderstanding on the power front when it comes to US and UK/EU numbers.

Apparently, the US figures include the overboost feature as the main numbers, while the EU ones do not. By all accounts, both cars are actually the same (according to a what I've read anyway).

I very much like this new Fiesta, it looks like a great upgrade over the old ST. On paper it looks great and I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun to drive. Personally, after having parts stolen from my last ST, I wouldn't buy one again. It's too easy for the parts to be stolen off and glued onto the cooking models, which will no doubt be dropping in price now that this facelifed version is out. The Fiesta will always be popular with that crowd, and as nice as it looks, I don't really want any involvement!

The fun at legal speed statements always puzzle me. What car is ever going to be "fun" at 30 mph driving through suburbia or past a school? Cock out of the window screaming obscenities aside. Enjoying the way a car moves along is one thing but fun?

This will have enough power for everyday, enough toys to make it liveable with too and cost little when whacked on a pcp. I've got one ordered for the Mrs, im chopping in my old 330 and I'm looking forward to having a simple old school hot hatch on the drive.

I am biased of course, I've got a company Focus ST, but I think this is a very welcome and overdue return for Ford in this segment. I may well go for the Fiesta when its time to shift the foci. Now all Ford need to do is build them in proper quantities so customers aren't looking at 4 month build times.

It all comes down to the way the vehicles are homologated. In the US they can take the PS reading as the maximum level it reaches (imagine it as shown on a power graph and they take it as the peak), where as in the UK we have to wait till the power drops down off the overboost figure to a constant. So you are correct in that they are exactly the same engine producing exactly the same power.

Do you have the black roadster by any chance? Looks very smart if that's the one. I think there is also a grey one although I can't remember if I've seen that at Dunton or here.

I bought the car last year with the quad conversion so I don't know how it compares to standard. I know I prefer it asthetically as it looks more balanced to me, the previous owner said it didn't make a difference to power but added slightly more bass to the sound when the engine was properly warmed up.

Quite like these! Whatever happened to the Fiesta S1600?? did they sell much? As i suppose the S1600 would be the next one down (albeit limited edition) from the ST?

1.6 Fiesta with either the Mountune MP140 or MR155 kit would probably fill the gap...

S1600s sold quite well, can't remember the exact figures.

The S1600 came with two engines, either the 120PS found in the Zetec S (came on 2010 cars) or the 134PS version (2011 cars). The Fiesta Metal could also be considered the next one down as that came with the 134PS engine as well.

I thought the old shape ST and RS mk2 had the symposer tube before that.

Probably about as fun as modern small hatches get, I would have thought.

But not as much fun as 1500 quid's worth of Pug 306 GTI-6 or Clio 172.
