I know liquid yellow is a very nice colour, but that is a very high price for it at £1300

Penneth said:
Equipment and tech is way above that of the Fiesta so comparing the cars £ for £ isn't really a good idea. The Fiesta is still great value for money mind you, don't get me wrong! Also, the Clio comes with 4+, so 4 years of warranty, breakdown cover and servicing included within the price.

Some option prices:

Cup chassis and 18" wheels £450
18" wheels £185
Monitor £95
Climate control £410 (standard on Lux)
Extra tint £250 (Standard on Lux)
Leather £1000
Heated seats £250
Rear sensors £315
Rear camera £350
Metallic £495
Flame red £595
Liquid yellow £1300

I drive round in a diesel Civic, what's your point? Am I not allowed an opinion either?

Dullard.
You're perfectly entitled to an opinion, but a simple one liner along the lines of "1.6 turbo, no thanks" when you're just driving a diesel run-around is pretty redundant. If you're not in the market for one of these, then what's the point posting irrelevant negative comments about them?

I don't go posting "Boring 4 door saloon. No thanks." in every 3 series thread - and this is no different.

Edited by framerateuk on Friday 15th March 10:29
As I said in another thread when a similar comment came up, if only people who are 'in the market' are allowed to have an opinion on a car, then that pretty much makes talk of F40/F50/Enzo/LaFerrari/458/Carrera GT/918/P1/F1/Aventador/Veneno/Veyron/Agera/Huayra/Zonda irrelevant, and make the site pretty st as far as a discussion forum goes. So what if I'm not going to buy it, I can still fking talk about it.

Actually, I'd rather read informed, constructive criticisms or opinions with a little description to give some background to what they've said. Is that so much to ask?

If I wanted to read one liners with no backing and constant swearing then I'd start reading YouTube comments.

Interestingly Wakefield Renault who are listed as a Renault sport dealer, are not aware of the new model pricing as of yet and have no idea at all about when a demo might be available.....Well done renault

Sorry if this has been already posted but all those that hate the sound symposer of the m5 look away now.

"But it also enables the stereo to play a particularly good party trick. By writing some crafty algorithms into the music system that effectively track what you do with the throttle, gearchange, brakes and so on, the stereo can transform the sounds made by your Clio RS into a range of seminal racing and rally cars from days gone by. So if you want your Clio to replicate the noise of an Alpine A110 rally car at full tilt, all you do is hit the magic button and it delivers. Geeky, yes, but like all good things from planet geek, unquestionably appealing all the same."

I wouldnt expect anything else from Renault. Never forget the time I tried to buy a new R26.R from a well know north east renault dealer. Had 3 sales people all looking at me blank, had never heard of it. Suggested I must be mistaken. Only for the misses to find a stand full of brochures on the way out. Zero product knowledge!!

Do you have the list? If so pop it up and the PH massive can explode into an apoplectic rage.

Saw it on a Renaultsport promo video, there was a shot of the screen from which the sounds are selected, from poor memory they were:

Cup Racer
Clio v6
Alpine A110
R8 Gordini
GT-R

Video is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rx5PIpXK3ro&fea... 1.53 in is the bit you want

It's a gimick for sure but hardly a detractor and would amuse my infantile brain no end...

They could add a Murray Walker commentary app:

What does a Renault 8 Gordini sound like?

Wasn't that just 90 bhp with an exhaust the diameter of a drinking straw?

I'll go for a 12 year old trying to squeeze out a fart.

All obvious downsides, yes, but surely the Renault must have a trick in it's sleeve. Though this has been looking less and less likely ever since the car was announced.
Ta-da!

have you ever driven a hot hatch? The engine is more than likely gonna be a let down, especially compared to the free revving 2.0 Litre's of the previous gen clio's.

Being in the market for one is completey irrelevant, i would never spend 20k on a 1.6 clio.

Where did this term "free-revving" come from? What does that mean? It's free to rev? Well it still has a rev limit. I always assume it means it likes to be revved hard to make progress. Doesn't have anything to do with it being free though.

As a Megane 250 Cup owner, I'm a bit surprised to see that the new Clio has five doors...as the Megane only has three. So the car that should theoretically sit below the Megane in the Renault range has more doors? I'm sure it will drive brilliantly as all Renaultsport products do - I can't believe they're going to sacrifice that. However, it really does not look pretty and I agree with those who say that you would have to say the Fiesta ST (even with the new front end) will outsell it as the looks will simply scare would-be buyers away before they get to test drive it, which is a real shame.

In the same way the 5 series sits below the 6 series? Do more doors equal more prestige?

Yeah funny enough I have. I had a Mountune Fiesta ST for years and while it wasn't the perfect hot hatch, it was fun to drive. But while it was great on a track, it was all about revs and was just hard work when you weren't thrashing it. A 1.6 turbo unit would have no doubt made the car more usable every day - which surly is what a hot hatch is all about?

We've had turbos on the larger hot hatches for years, I don't see anyone complaining about those? I don't see why it's such as issue with these? After all, the Renault 5 had a turbo....
