Saw a blinding example at Bedford Autodrom yesterday on the trackday. Red, N reg Fiesta "1.1i" complete with steel wheels and a tartan rug on the back seat...

...and, what I THINK was a turbo charged cossie lump under the bonnet. I should have a pic somewhere

Jesus, what on earth would an old Sierra need to drop a Cerbera ! don't Cerberas do 0-100 in like 8 seconds, weigh not much more than a tonne and have 400 plus bhp, even most mega tuned Cosworths would struggle with one.

We need to know more about this Sierra, it is the car Equivalent of feral Big Cats roaming Bodmin Moor or similar.
Yup from the factory (which mine is not) 0-100MPH in 8 seconds 0-60 in 3.8 and good for 200MPH and eaten alive by a Sierra. Have asked numerous people in "car circles" in my area if they have seen it or know of it. A couple have seen it and got wasted by it so it is local but I have no idea who owns it or what the hell they have done to it. Whoever did it has my deepest respect.
I really need to know what that is now, to do that it must have what, 600 plus bhp, and even then it would be down to traction, the driver being mental etc.

To be fair there was nothing mental about the guy. It was just straight line stuff on empty, wide dry roads in daylight.

Picture from the web. Not sure if this is the same car, but I recall reading an awesome article many years ago in the MG Owners Club mag about an engineer who suffered a serious injury, and while recuperating worked out how to shoehorn a Jag V12 into a B whilst keeping the outside as stock as possible. I recall E-Type running gear and radiators re-routed to the boot, inner wings removed, and some subtle louvres.

Watching an old episode of Top Gear earlier that had the Mazda 6MPS on it. Seemed like sleeper material to me.

if it had 500bhp maybe but with big wheels, bonnet bulge big twin exhausts, diffuser, rear spoiler etc it does look like it should move at a fair rate which 250bhp provides.

Is there a thread on the opposite of a sleeper? You know, the typical 1.0 Polo that is badged up as a GTI with all the bells and whistles that they come with? Usually found in the local mcdonalds carpark between the hours of 11pm and 2amlaugh

1999 C70 T5 Coupe Manual.

V70 XC 19T turbo conversion, bigger intercooler, custom downpipe and high flow cat. Looked completely stock, with a 352hp re-map. 11 years ago it was a bloody quick car on the roads.

that's part of the appeal of Si's car TBH, when do you ever see non-turbo imprezas and would you recognise one minus the scoops and wings?!

Was at the cottage loaf meet a couple of years ago, usual array of exotic metal on display. A guy turned up with a seriously tatty mk3 astra GSI, parked up and opened his bonnet. I even made some comment about the poor dillusional chap parking up in his shed amongst the ferraris, ultimas etc and actually opening his bonnet. It was only when I spied the distinctive oil filler cap of a saab engine in there that I wondered over for a look and a chat. It had a turbo the size of a three bed semi and was chucking out well north of 400bhp if I recall correctly. Departed a short time later like a scalded cat and spat out three foot flames. Probably the best sleeper I've ever come across.

My effort. A 2001 Saab 9-3 LPT Running a Maptun tuned Saab 9-5 Aero engine and a few tweeks to the chassis and brake setup.
Only a couple of clues for the observant. I got sick of removing the front grill for trackdays so there's a tow loop in the front, the exhausts a little on the large side as are the brakes and it sits a little lower than standard.

Theres a local lad here who has a horrible brown, 5 door 1996ish corsa. Looks total crap.

BUT a 320bhp Z20LET GSi engine crammed in some how.

Goes like stink when it gets traction. The thing can only weigh about a ton and a bit.

That is the absolute definition of a sleeper; I've even just gone and done some insurance quotes which are surprisingly low although running costs will probably be horrific.

Sleeper:
Not a standard production vehicle. (so no AMG/RS/M)
Very bottom of the range car - or close. Those badges are still in place.
No hot hatches - these are already expected to be "fast".
Engine / drive train from another make / model fitted to make it go, much, much faster.
Preferably a FWD car that's now RWD... extra points for AWD.
Smallest exhaust possible for engine. Extra points for using OE.
No tints
No alloys (unless they are model specific)
Not stripped or had interior changed.
No other visual signs of mods or the owners intentions (towing straps, wheels, brakes, non standard lights, body kits etc)
Extra points for dents, wheel caps, scuffs and generally looking like it would not get to 60mph let alone do 0-60 in sub 5s.

Q car:
What most of you are posting.

That is all.
