This is a thread about cars that shouldnt be fast and should not handle, but do because they are modified, yet look standard in the bog standard form.

Taking a 205 GTI and placing any engine/etc into it does not make it a sleeper as its already a sports model, if it was done to a 205 Junior and it still looked like a junior, then yes that would qualify as a sleeper.

At the moment that 205 could possibly get in the decently modified cars thread, but not a sleeper thread.

where as my "rovaru" isnt a real sleeper but modified in way, looks very similar to stock (currently) but lowered on bigger wheels etc etc but people wouldnt expect it to have a 3.0 H6 subaru engine and awd (still building currently it)

The fact that it's not a sleeper.

I'm loosing the will to live on this thread...

This. The 205 GTI was sold as a performance car/hot hatch, as the advert below (taken from this thread) shows. Therefore, it will never be a sleeper.

I figured I would never end up getting sleepered by one of the cars that people on here are raving about as I would just see them as boring normal cars and not bother having a play. You would look a bit of a dick trying to start a race against what appears to be a knackered 1.4 Astra in your 600bhp Merc.
So the drivers of these cars would never give the proper sleeper surprise unless they were driving round goading people into playing.
Depends on the setup, if you are sitting in the left lane behind some lights and a "knackered 1.4 astra" takes the right lane rather then just lining up, wouldnt you be tempted to give it a bit of boot to get in front of it?

Its a possibility, probably wouldnt happen for me as I tend to see rough looking cars and think that they have bad drivers that I would rather let them go and observe/ avoid from behind than let them crash into me but I can see other people doing it.
Only way it would happen for me is if I was planning on launching it anyway for my own entertainment or if the road quickly closed to 1 lane heading into a twisty NSL area where I want to play.

I know someone with a slightly tatty and innocuous looking BMW 330 estate... which has a supercharger. Around 400bhp.
