Love these, good job I now live in Dublin so can't easily go take a look! Went to see one exacty like this with my Dad when I was about 17/18 and the only reason I didn't buy it was because I couldn't afford the insurance (circa '91!).

Pulling alongside a golf gti at a set of lights in one of these back in the day must have been fun.

WOW!!!

More pics please
Will put some more on as soon as I can find more. This car was supposed to be finished for mayday bank hols for Auto Italia at Brooklands but it's more likely to be finished for the Stanford Hall show in early July. It will be slightly different from others as it will be sporting a single headlamp conversion from lower spec mainland Europe Stradas and Alfa 155 alloys.

I've had four Strada's.

First one was my dads which he bought new in '82. It was a burgundy five door MK 1 65CL which was a blast to drive and reliable despite being driven by a 17 year old hooligan such as myself.

The second was a black MK 1 105TC which you can see below. I sold it to a mate who dropped the 2 litre block from a 131 Sport into it.

My third was the same as the second albeit in red.

The fourth was a C reg MK 3 Abarth in black with half leather and just had a K&N panel filter, Tarox discs and Leda adjustable fronts. It sounded great, went well and cornered well. I really do miss it.

A mate is currently restoring one. Below are a couple of resto pics.

I remember the Car magazine giant test vs I am guessing the GTi, XR3i and Astra GTE. In their opinion the Strada destroyed the competition for speed and excitement
I remember that Giant Test, there were about 12 cars in total, representing the most popular hot hatches of the day, entitled "Exploding the GTI myth" IIRC the Strada and the MG Maestro came joint first, with the Golf GTI well down the list, and that populist pile of st and best seller by far the Escort XR3i in a nonetheless far too highly placed last.

I can't think of a car I hate more than an XR3i. Had the misfortune to have to travel in one a number of years ago and it was absolute ste. Noisy yet so slow with a dreadful engine.

My pal started off with a 127 sport, it absolutly flew ( or felt like it) he then got a 105TC , then a 130, I had a sud 105 ti bought from auction for £350, we had some great tussles against each other on the twisties, always felt the gearchange let the Abarth let it down down, but what a great raw car they were

If I had the spare cash and space I'd be buying this right now. 7.9 to 60 is very impressive for the standard model given its age. Fuel economy must be terrible but that's not the point :-P

Remember seeing a nicely restored one at the NEC Classic Car Show a few years back - owner used to be a mechanic who'd worked on them when new I think

Had a Fiat 131 Sport Twin Cam with twin webbers back in 1989.
Was a fabulous car. About the only one of the forty or so cars I've owned that I really miss.
However, would maybe find one a bit disappointing now ...

Bugger! Had one of those too, although mine was very, very modified (with a Thema 8vT engine) when I sold it.

Traded my Fiat 2.0 131 SuperMirafiori for the 130TC, regretted it after the first month. In the the 3rd month the exhaust fell off , replaced under warranty, that lasted 2 months when it fall off again, well more like rotted through. 8 months in the clutch cable snapped, replaced under warranty, then it happened again, the fault was traced to the pully wheel not being greased. Needless to say it had to go, and in came the Ford Escort RS1600i. To this day I regret selling the 131 SuperMirafiori.

Used to lust after the 130 back in the day but alas I could only afford on of these.....which were fun too :-)

I went through about 10 of these in the late '80s! 70 peaky horsepower, a redline at 7200, they were far better than the wheezy 1275 GT alternative. They looked like a mini 928 if you removed the back bumper and swapped the tyres from 135 to 185. Still got a piece of the rear seat of my first car 127 sport as a kneeler in the garage!
I had a 1050 Comfort (that was a lie) but wanted one of those! Sweet-handling little things.

Got an X1/9 instead, so it wasn't all bad.

That car owes him close to 12k and is running 45's. It was in the same Auto Italia Magazine feature as the one for sale at 3.5k
