Like the Chevy Camaro the Dodge Challenger is built in Ontario Canada, that's why the built quality is so good.

Whoa !! thought I had wandered onto the wrong forum !! a feature about American iron and not one negative comment !! ( not counting the one about the dosh and having too many wheels ).
blimey ! as for the Challenger SRT, I think its great. and what value for money too.. Great article by the way. Yeh, its a bit wide, yeah its a bit loud, yeh its a bit thirsty, but hell, your going have some fun.
Sort of car that you go to view and its under a car cover , when you lift the corner for your first peek, it growls at you.
Having owned several American V8's. I know you'll never get a "stiffy" looking at a hybrid EVER !

I know I'll probably get grief for this, but people who, by definition in owning at least 18 cars already, have st loads of money, do slightly irk me when they say things like "There was no way I could afford a brand new one".

Its a lovely car, and I don't mind at all that he or anyone else has the money to buy it, but come on, don't patronise people that don't have the ability to buy even one car like this, 2nd hand or otherwise, by saying things that patently aren't true like they couldn't afford it.
Has it not occurred to you that the reason he couldn't afford a new one is because he has 18 other cars?

Love this, rented the R/T version a couple years ago and really enjoyed it. Was so sad to give it back and then even more depressing to return to the UK to drive my diesel.

26k, hmmmm would you have this or a new Golf? I know which I'd choose.

What a lovely car.

I bet it does sound awesome with that exhaust setup.

And so what if he has 18 cars?! If you can, why not?

I know I would rather have a nice selection of totally different cars, than spending £50k+ on just the one!

Each to their own, and all that...

Someone I vaguely know ran on of these for a while - my abiding memories are of

a - it being in the petrol station EVERY time I went past
b - it not fitting into any UK parking space, whatsoever

Lovely thing but cartoon HUGE in reality - it's the only car I've seen which makes a GTR (the owner has both) look compact wink

All the s/h ones seem to be autos . . . are the manuals really terrible or does that just reflect that most yank car users prefer them? I can't live out my Kowalski fantasies without a stick-shift!

The engine has enough grunt that being an auto isn't really a problem.

The other thing is that they have a foot operated park brake so doing hill starts in a manual is an artform.

So sell one FFS!! Might have been more accurate to say "There was no way I was prepared to fork out for a new one..."?

Luuuuurve the car tho. There's an orange CHarger round this neck of the woods and it has an awesome road presence - makes me smile whenever I see it.

It's definitely a size class up from a Mustang or Camaro. About the same size as a 7-series BMW. Big yes, but "cartoon huge" is a bit strong.

Shame on you OP for having a bigger motoring budget than dukest but not enough to afford a brand new Challenger!!

Dukest, I guarantee that despite what you may think there are other people who would aspire to have as much money as yourself or others with lower budgets. Everything is relative.

I think they're a stunning looking car. I lived in Canada when the original muscle cars were around and was lucky enough to be taken out in some of them. I was there from the age of 9 to 14 and spent most afternoons after school hanging around the local Chrysler garage watching the mechanics servicing the cars and often went out on road test with them.
Too see the new versions in production now is great. Maybe one day I'll invest in one.

LOL. I am currently on my first trip to the US and booked a "Dodge Challenger R/T or similar". Of course I ended up with the "or similar" namely the Camaro SS frown I won't complain too much about this terrible hardship wink Camaro has a lovely bark on startup but beyond that its too civilised. It's not the American muscle car experience I was expecting but its a very comfortable highway cruiser cloud9 Hopefully one day I can experience the Challenger as well.
